HI Andres, do you do anything to protect the car paint from the UV? I have big windows into my garage and have been pondering this issue...
UV is a major concern, too, Bob, particularly where I live, in the tropics. We used glass that’s supposed to block a large portion of UV rays; ours is the type that has a colorless anti-UV film applied as part of the manufacturing process. We also have vertical blinds that are specific to UV but let some light through. You can see through them from outdoors in the evening when the garage is lit. Also in the day from inside, as seen in the photo below. The blinds may be a good option for you. Andy Image Unavailable, Please Login
my first choice. self cleaning. three layer. missile resistant because of the large area. high thermal and UV. I am using two walls of glass. one, 26x20' the other 45x20'. glass cost right at $100,000. framing $25,000. will withstand 120 mph wind. blinds should not be necessary. architects are still working on that part. the roof area, 26'x45' may require electronic control to block heat. this 1200 sq. ft. room will happen next year. after I sell my last commercial building. budget at $600,000
Whoa, I would love to have that, Mitchell. And self-cleaning, too! Mine are just tempered glass and a very small fraction of your cost. The blinds seem to be working and may be one solution to an already built garage. Andy
