I am adding a 4-car addition to my present 3-car attached garage. I want it to be luxe throughout.

    1. Cabinets
The best I have found so far are Vault Cabinets does anyone know of comparable or better cabinets? I will have twenty-eight feet of cabinets along one wall.

    2. Dust control.
I have looked at the popular air filtrations filters Wen, Grizzly, Rikon, Jet etc. and none of them can answer a question on how they will work or if they will work. They are primarily for woodworking where you turn them on when you create a lot of dust for a few hours. If a filter is not running 24/7 dust will accumulate on the cars and no filter will magically pick dust up off surface.

My HVAC company and very good personal friend said there are many things he can add to the system that will keep the dust out except when the doors go up and down and we are in a clean area but I guess we will design it to be the best for dust control he knows how to.

    3. Our Plans, can anyone offer ideas?
The garage will have an epoxy floor, will have capability for adding drains the plumbing will run to a manhole in the street if I decide to open the floor and connect. Garage be well insulated, variable flow 98% efficiency HVAC, extra wide and tall premium+ garage doors with the best sealing and jackshaft openers. One person said a heated floor but that does nothing for the summer I ship half my cars to Florida for the winter and am concerned about May through October and do not want to mess with a boiler or other.

Adding attic trusses with a large electric extending stairs, circuit panel, (3) 85" Sony TV's with audiophile sound system, lighted Ferrari, Aston & Alfa signs, Thermador refrigerator, air compressor, ample elec outlets, high end lighting, windows, alarm system, hot water and built in sink in the custom cabinets. I do not want any exposed shelves, slat board, hooks as I have 39 drawers in my (4) stainless steel toolboxes. Ample storage and then some in the additional twenty-eight feet of cabinets which include another 18 drawers and 18-22 more shelves in the full length and upper cabinets. I might make an exception to none and have hooks for clothes or other minimal holders but minimal. I prefer to use portable air tanks than dragging air hose over or around cars.

Does anyone have any experience or have tried some things that have helped or can offer ideas for dust control or anything to enhance my new garage.

Forget epoxy. Go with terrazzo or polished concrete.

Hi Terry, I bought Vault cabinets about 10 years ago and couldn't be happier with them. They are very well built. Expensive but in a league of their own.

I am beginning to think the same thing. I have looked at Baldhead silly vertical handles that look cheap, Lista not as good looking I mean all of them are way overbuilt for what I will ever put in them like ten fold. I am after craftsmanship and looks not strength at this level. However the Vault are 11 gauge verticals and 16 gauge horizontals with 200lb+ guided and shelves rated for 400lbs. I will be lucky to have 100lbs at the most with most shelves or drawers being less than 25lbs. I already have 39 drawers for my tools this is simply storage.

I bought New Age from Costco.

They are nowhere near the cost, weight, or quality of Lista or Vidmar. But I am completely happy with them after 5 years.

I just ordered 12 piece Newage cabinets from Costco for my front garage, killer price cant wait for them to arrive.
Haven't read any bad reviews and for the money its a great deal.
Vidmar cabinet's are commercial grade with top notch quality, a bit overkill for the DIY'er IMOP.

I just installed my newage 12 pc and they look great. I need to paint the garage now. Stainless tops. dark grey finish. I got a lot of "clutter" hidden inside the tall cabinets now.

Love the modularity. I got the set with two roll around cabinets (for detailing tools and supplies) and twofixed cabinets. I put the fixed cabinets together on one side, and the roll arounds on the other. I have ideas to add on already....

Short of two of the swivel casters being frozen on the rolling cabinets, everything has been great. I opted for the cash offset "refund" instead of waiting for new swivels.

    my thoughts -
ton of electrical 110 outlets low to the ground AND high up. Low to the ground for battery tenders (I HATE seeing cords, HATE). Plugs high up for neon signs, clocks, tv's, etc.

Make sure you have at least one 220V plug. You NEVER know when you'll need it. Easy to do when building new and you will send me many thank you cards after you do them.

Carbon Monoxide lithium powered sensor. VERY IMPORTANT. I've had some issues with carbon and the sensor potentially saved lives. They're cheap and could save your life. You can't smell it, it's not car fumes only....it's essential.

If you're doing epoxy floors, plan on any striping or logos that you want to go down as they go UNDER the clear top coat.

Large floor fan. When you start a car or let one idle, or work on one you want a large fam to move the fumes out fast and not linger in your garage.

Multiple fire extinguishers on each end of garage. God forbid.

Storage room to store unsightly or clutter items with shelving and drawers. It's a must for me as i want my garage to be more of a museum, but be fully functional as a work garage.

Wiring underground to connect your home alarm system to the garage's door and windows. Also wire a keypad in garage.

Icylene insulation (spray foam). 23 Seer and incredible.

Pest/bug preventative treatment to wood and rafters as you can never treat after insulation goes in. It's cheap and gives you peace of mind.

Plenty of width between cars so you can fully open car doors and not hit the car next to it.

Just a few thoughts....hope they help.....have fun...oh, and make it 25% bigger than you plan on initially....trust me....

Very good points everyone of them. I had not thought of outlets up high for my signs but will have the three TV behind the TV's and up high for the three jackshaft door openers for sure. There will be some in the ceilings and other spots.
I am putting a separate panel in the garage.
Can you elaborate on wiring under the floor and why under the floor instead of in the walls? Keypad for the alarm? We already have an alarm for the garage I am not sure what you mean for keypad.

What type of treatment for the wood any specific brand?

The wiring underground would be to connect the alarm in the new garage to your home's main system. They have to be wired and connected. Check with your alarm company and they can explain it probably better. There was a unique cabling i needed to connect the garage to the home for alarm purposes. Now, my garage is detached from the main so not sure if that is your scenario as well.

I had a nation wide pest company come and treat the wood, etc with termite and bug prevention. It was inexpensive, but worth it.

Is this in Florida? If so, with the HVAC don't go too big of an AC unit as i was told if the unit is too big it will cool the garage down too fast and won't have time to get the humidity out of the air. Humidity is what harms the cars, not the temperature. Small hidden safe with a nice firearm of your choosing is imperative IMO.

Ceiling plug for pull down, retractable extension cord. LED lighting is a MUST. Very efficient and long lasting. I used i think The Bolt or something like that. Fantastic items. Purchase extra bulbs to have on hand, but they're rated for like 10 years.

Ask that all wire piping be done with metal piping and not PVC. The metal is stronger, more resistant to fire and heat and also is easily paintable. Again, I HATE seeing wiring or cords.

Liftmaster garage door openers. They can be connected to your phone I believe, but they have automated sliding pin locks when they close for added security. They're quiet and NO TRACKS. No unsightly centered chain tracks. They're cable driven. Nice units and not too pricey.

I went with Sonic MSS+ in my new place. They’re free-standing, which is great, and sturdy as hell. I actually walked across the top of them to hang those flags up on the back wall. They’re more of an industrial aesthetic, but my space is a repurposed aircraft hangar so it’s never going to feel luxe.

With regards to the dust problem - have you investigated a pressurized room system?
These are normally found in food production plants where they need to keep the room clean and free from dust, flies, mould spores etc.
I think they call them " positive pressure rooms ", in this way the room pressure is higher than that of the outside and thus it is very hard for small particles to enter the room.
    Just a thought?

Looking forward to see the wornderful space.
Some of the Thermador fridges are made in Turkey. We have s a few at work, and I don't see them as being as nice as my Sub Zero.
