So, Turbopanzer, you think the engines should be called "EcoBURST" instead of "EcoBoost"?

No, the reason the cost of racing went thru the roof is because of TELEVISION.
People want to be on television, the only way to be on television is to win,
and we all know winning costs $$$$$.

    Ford had a CanAm program?
Must not have been too good because I don't ever recall hearing about it, or of it...

I think Andretti was the driver. It was a half-hearted effort, I think.

No, it wasn't very good and was soon stopped.

Billy Johnson and Scott Maxwell testing Ford GT at Road America today. Not exactly household names, although Maxwell is a sports car veteran. Anyone know anything about Billy Johnson? I haven't a clue ...

Billy Johnson is almost a "factory" Ford driver, does a lot with both Roush/Fenway and Multimatic. he's extremely good, in pretty much everything....NASCAR, IMSA, CTSC, and so on.

I think he'd make a great addition to this team, it certainly benefits them to have him test the car.

Even though American drivers will likely make the most sense, Hand, Pruett and
then then new arrivals Maxwell and Johnson aren't shoe-in's.

Keeping in mind Ganassi's involvement, count on the (insert nationality name here) with
the biggest boat load of cash (and having nothing to do with talent) to get the majority of
    the seats on the team.

Wrong. I go with the cash cow theory. Better to spend someone else's money than your own.

so you really think Ford is going to go back to LeMans with Ganassi and will be relying on pay drivers to go up against the best factory teams in the world?

+100. Very likeable and a terrific driver – he'd be a great ambassador for Ford and the US.

Briscoe is a great idea. I still go with my original thoughts of T. Bell & Gurney.

I hear FORD was testing up a Road America on Monday/Tuesday and had times that were very competitive with the top Tudor/IMSA class lap times from last year. Does anyone think it would be possible for them to run it at a Tudor event this year??

No, the car is built to next years regulations which are much faster than this year.

Ok...I was thinking more as an exhibition sort of like the Maserati Trofeo cars did in the Pirelli series in June without points.

    Factory Ford GT

    P1 - #68 Müller, Hand, Bourdais
    P3 - #69 Briscroe, Westbrook, Dixon
    P4 - #66 Pla, Mücke, Dixon
    P9 - #67 Franchitti, Priaulx, Tincknell

    Factory Ferrari

Retired - #51 Bruni, Calado, Pier Guidi
Retired - #71 Rigon, Bird, Bertolini

So now, would you say that your prediction was totally wrong, or just 100% wrong?

A for effort from Ferrari. Perhaps next time. Reliability will come with time. Maybe.

all well and good but what happened to this little problem>

Additionally, Ferrari has issued a joint protest against Ford post-race, alleging that the American manufacturer’s Ford GTs violated the ACO’s performance window between the LMP2 and GTE-Pro classes.

The so-called “7 Percent Rule” enforces a 7 percent performance gap between classes, which the manufacturers have alleged Ford broke during the race.

Interesting rule, which I wasn't aware of. Thanks for educating me !!!

Surely, the ACO is in trouble if it must artificially maintan a performance gap between classes.

No wonder why on some track some GT3 are faster than their GTE counterparts.

Edit: Does that also mean that the GTE-Am have to be 7% slower than the GTE-PRO?
