Now that is badass! Last April I saw a Brabus G700 4x4 Squared at the Alabama IndyCar race. Supposely it was 1 of 3 in existence at the time. That thing makes the "normal' G550 squared look plain lol. Brabus knows how to do it...
I do love the 6x6, but the 4x4 is just so...feasible? Not even sure if that's the word, but if one day I'm going to "ball out" and get a crazy, luxurious SUV, the 4x4 is where it's at. Sure the 6x6 is incredibly badass, but I feel like driving one around on public streets is obscenely overkill. Also, to second what some people are saying here, I also LOVE the highlighter yellow (electric beam). You guys are right, it's an absolutely ridiculous car, why not make it a bright eye catcher? I find the wild colorways on these to be fitting! I'm also a younger guy so I suppose that may explain the infatuation with such a ridiculous beast of a vehicle.
apparently this trend was short lived....there are 41 available on cars.com https://www.cars.com/for-sale/searchresults.action/?mkId=20028&AmbMkId=20028&AmbMkNm=Mercedes-Benz&make=Mercedes-Benz&AmbMdId=36299623&AmbMdNm=G%20550%204x4%20Squared&model=G%20550%204x4%20Squared&mdId=36299623&rd=99999&zc=32256&searchSource=QUICK_FORM anyone know what the production numbers are on this?
Apparently it is around 300 for the US, but it looks very possibly much more Interestingly, the cars are all commanding above MSRP... let's see how long that lasts...
I've been told by a former MB employee that there are roughly 275 for the US - he was tracking all the orders for guys on MBWORLD.com. I just got mine last week from a huuuuge dealer and they only had 4 - I had the final allocation. I'd guess 90%+ of the new trucks on the market are sold orders, so you can't make an assessment on demand based on the number of trucks on cars.com. I went to England/Ireland the day after mine arrived at the dealer, so I wasn't able to take delivery for 12 days. The salesman called after day 3 and asked if he could mark it sold because they were getting 10-15 calls per day on it.
Saw one at the local Mercedes dealer. Crazy car, I loved it. Listprice 292k chf, for sale for 250kchf.
I doubt it as from what I read on mbworld, MB corporate have done plenty to prevent this from happening. However being in the ME I see plenty of european imported (namely Germany) G classes, both the MY17 AMG variants as well as the G550 squared. This is happening because the MY17 Gs got an improved infotainment system that the local dealers only have allocations for as of now. People don't like waiting too long for cars here...
Regarding exporting, I had to sign a form saying I wouldn't export it for 6 months. I've heard there is not much legally car companies can do with such forms, but they can black list you from buying their products. As far as my first impressions - absolute love it, but I'm a G homer. Having had a couple G63s for the last 4 years, I was worried the 550 motor would be disappointing, but it's way better than I ever expected. The G63 has a bigger sound and a little more grunt, but the new 4.0 is damn good. I was surprised to see reviewers like Chris Harris say the ride is way better than the G63/65, but now I understand. The G550 4x4 is a Cadillac compared to them. The reviewer's also hit another nail on the head - the truck attracts more attention than all but a handful of other cars. My regular Gs always got a ton of attention, but adding that presence to the sheer size of the 4x4 has every single passerby giving me a "WTF is that" look or a thumbs up or kids chasing me down main street with their phones. Since college, other than apartments, I have only lived in 3 houses and this would fit in the garage of all 3. It's big, but no bigger than a lifted pickup.
thanks! it's a crazy car. glad you're enjoying it. I asked about the garage b/c my neighbor has a lifted F250 and it doesn't fit in his garage...too tall by probably 6 inches.
They are a cool ride but the coolest one is the German military (original) version. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Hey guys, Have any Ferrai folks purchased or experienced the Mercedes g 4x4 squared? I think they are unique and interesting. They have gotten good reviews. I’m thibking of trying to drive one as a daily driver. Thoughts?
Had a rental in LA a few months ago. Compared to my wife's G63 it is better riding, not as jarring on poor surfaces. Feels less stable, you have to make every maneuver in a more deliberate way, I do not see it as a good daily driver at all. A while ago in London, a Prius broadsided a Brabus G4x4 at fairly low speed (around 30mph) and flipped it easily while suffering moderate damage itself.
I saw one on sales lot of Prestige Imports, Miami. Walked past of it and didn't pay attention to it (mainly thanks to variety of supercars all over). Did notice it being higher and bigger, only now I understud what it was. Just took a look of their page, sale for a little under $270k.
Unless a 4x4 is at the Diesel Brothers shop in UT, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I have some pretty flamboyant exotics and my 4x4 gets more attention and finger pointing than all of them. It helps that it's 8 feet tall so it's much more visible than something else that maybe you can hear, but can't see because it's behind a Camry. Only Prestige's Diablo SV, P1 and CGT would grab my attention over a 4x4, everything else is in their inventory is boring. That being said, I've seen more P1s (2) and CGTs (4) driving around town that 4x4s (only mine).
I'm from Finland and seeing more Lamborghini's in one glance than there is in whole country was exotic. I do see lot's of 4x4 around here, G wagon here is mostly tool, not an AMG. 4x4 square reminds me of Unimog or factory made lifted truck and that to me, isn't all that unique. One gets spoiled quick around Miami when it comes to supercars. And to standout in croud that is filled with everykind exotic man has to offer that is a great weapon.
