All, I currently have a 2009 Mercedes SL65 and a 2019 Jeep Wrangler that I am considering selling to consolidate into one vehicle, most likely a 2015-2017 G63. I have always had a thing for the refrigerator on wheels due to its military background and the fact it can also haul some serious butt with a few mods. Current, or former, owner what are some things you like and what are things that are part of the downside of ownership (besides cost of ownership and depreciation). Any inputs are appreciated. -Joe
Had 2 G55s and 3 G63s in my household, since 2005. Take one for a prolonged test drive before you commit yourself to buying one. That truck is very peculiar and different then anything else on the road, some love it some hate it. The 2019 Wrangler is much improved in ride and comfort over the '18 (my son has one), it drives better and is more comfortable then the G (except the new one). Properly maintained they are bulletproof reliable, at least that was my personal experience.
I love my G wagons. Used 100% for city driving. I don't like them on the freeway. If you have to do lots of cross country driving get a sedan
I dunno. But the windshield is only a few inches from your nose. I love that. Not since the VW Beetle has a windshield been so upfront and personal. Matt
Find one on turo and drive it for a week. What’s your goal? Do you actually use the Jeep’s off road abilities or just need the size of an suv?
We’ve had a G63 and then traded for a G4x4. They are quirky fun cars with character...heavy frig-like doors that lock with a rifle cock sound. So the suspension on these cars are a little rough, especially as a passenger, not the best handling. Drives a bit truck-ish. Interestingly, our G4x4 has a smoother ride due to the crazy uprated suspension. Tech is a bit antiquated, no smart key. But hell they are fun as all heck and the kids love to go off-roading in it. ^^G 4x4 is better than a Raptor and only because it has portal axles. Those are key for off road and ground clearance. You can do aftermarket ones, but I think they are like $20k+.
I love the Raptor as well....thing is huge though. I need more driveway space Hahahahah. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Why did you sell your G4x4 so quick? We love ours....but definitely needed to install the electric sidesteps otherwise no way getting in and out was ever going to be easy. Sent from my 16M
So, first I want to thank everyone for their inputs. Yes, the Jeep saw off road duty but nothing too severe with most being rocky trails at off road parks and nature areas. I test drove a 2017 G63 and although it was a hoot, the driving characteristics left a lot to be desired for something so expensive. I would LOVE a GSquared, but that was way off the budget radar for me so I ended up purchasing a 2019 Raptor Super Crew in white (pics later). Plans are front perch collars, ADD Stealth Fighter front bumper, VenomRex wheels, and Cobb Tune along with the FORscan mods to get rid of the annoying nannies the Raptor has. Had a 2014 and really liked the 6.2.
Fuel Rebels in bronze 18x9 and Nitto Trail Grapplers 35 x 12.5. The fronts rub slightly on hard turns so hoping the level kit helps with that.
Wise decision. Check out Goostuned for the custom tune. I also went with the ADD front bumper and the Borla Atak exhaust. Next is a level kit and maybe dealers TBD.
Im building one of these from a '17 G63. Got the portal axles from a buddy. I don't think I want mine to sit quite that high, or have tires larger than 35". Whats your opinion?
