I am having my Speciale coming this month, and I am thinking of wrapping the whole car (only painted part). Can anyone advise how much it costs roughly? How many years the XPEL film can last? Is it worth doing that?

    Thanks

7-10k, lasts 10 years, worth doing the front and rockers. Whole car is questionable since the sides and roof don't really get rock chips. If you are taking your car through a car wash it will protect against swirls but I'm guessing you won't do that? With older films it was easy to see where the film started and stopped due to slight color variations so it was worth it then. Xpel ultimate is totally clear on all colors. I have it on a red car, white, black and silver and it looks perfect. The key is ensure the shop is very experienced and leaves no seams. My shop even removes the shields and puts the film down before replacing them rather than cutting around them like many shops do. No seams equals no dirt lines at the seams..... And install like that is around 4-5k.

so you mean with front and rockers, it's 4-5k; full wrapping is 7-10k? including installation.

I am going to keep the car forever, so thinking about full wrapping so that I don't need to worry or be seriously careful about the paint.

I found on xpel.com, they have a list of authorized installers, I assume they are skilled enough?

My 2012 458 spider came with the whole car wrapped . I've only had it 2 days so I guess the jury is out. I think it was wrapped with a product called Apex. Im not sure but I think it's simialr ?

I am not sure, I search posts in ferrarichat, and it looks Xpel Ultimate is most recommended.

The two latest types of wrap are Suntek and Xpel. Either will work great but don't assume all installers are the same. Ask the dealer who wraps their Fcars for them.

What I can tell you is that it's easy to clean and if you didn't know it was wrapped you would never know. I called the dealer I purchased the car from and asked what it is wrapped with and they said they will get back with me. Maybe it is Expel who knows.

Just took delivery of a new 458 spider and am having the dealer do an XPEL wrap on the front this Monday. Bumper, full hood, mirrors for $2200. Paying a premium because having dealer do it. It's not the dealer I bought from. He's having an XPEL installer come in and do it. I found out it's the same installer the Porsche and Lambo dealers use. XPEL is the recommended product.

They might be good a wrapping, but you should seriously consider a complete paint correction when you get your car - and not that many are good at that.

A car with a good paint correction and wrap, usually have a deeper and better gloss than a car without film and no paint correction. Find someone who specializes in exotics and have a good reputation.

All damage and defects in the clear coat inflicted by poor finishing at the factory......easily enough corrected by a competent detailer.......and why I didn't go for factory PPF.

    Hi Ole,

It seems the consensus of fchatters on this topic is to get the stone guard protection done after delivery by an installer with a good reputation. "Xpel Ultimate" seems to be the product most recommended. Apparently the application of a stone guard product is more art than science and the end result is highly dependent on the individual installer.

Is it too late to delete that option on your Speciale?

BTW, my Speciale is on the water, and I should have it by the end of April :)

Did a full car Xpel Ultimate wrap on my 458 Spider. Love the sense of comfort it gives. Looks same as pre-wrap. Cost $7k.

Did the same on my Speciale. You will be AMAZED at where you get stone chips. Just think about the airflow across the car and you will then understand where one can get issues. I have had issues on my roof as well as inlets at the back of the car let alone rocker panels and bonnet. Well worth it if you plan to drive your car on open roads at decent speeds.

Ferrari's and other Italian exotics seem to be the only cars extremely sensitive to chips. I've driven my Dodge Charger during winter for a year now and it barely has any chips (no protective film). On the other hand, my Maserati has film on the front bumper... and I can see a couple of chips.. it's so sensitive

Have it done. Ferrari do a lot of things very well... Paint is not one of them though.

If you search through the board, you'll find that the general consensus is that this is the go-to guy. Esoteric Auto Detail in Columbus, Ohio | Detailing, Clear Bra, Training, and Product Sales. | Esoteric Detail | Esoteric Car Care I have no affiliation, I don't even live in the same country, but if you check on this and other forums for exotics, it seems to be as good as it gets. The way I see it, this is not a dealer thing. Just have it done by the right guy when you get the car - my dealer can't do it, that's for d**n sure. I have a brilliant guy up here on this side of the pond doing my paint corrections. Dealers are into selling cars, these other shops are into detailing. Choose the right guy for the right job.

Put full wrap Xpel Ultimate on my Speciale as well for piece of mind. From the highway to my driveway, the rural road is always littered with gravel. The Xpel does an excellent job protecting the side fins and high impact areas, it is also nearly invisible.
After 1000 km of spirited driving, there are a couple of Knicks in the film; but it is holding up very well!
I will be leaving the car out in the sun one day, to see if the small Knicks will heal themselves.
