The LH fuel tank in my 308 has a small pinhole leak. I have the tank out and it's very clean and not corroded in the least other than the one pinhole. i'm wondering if anyone knows of someone in the Seattle area that does fuel tank repairs?

    Thanks in advance.

I thought NAPA sold something to repair gas tanks.

I seem to recall that tr0768 had his 308 tanks done not to long ago in the Seattle area.

    Perhaps he will chime in.

I had one of the inflow tubes fail on my gas tank from flexing too much allowing fuel to seep down the outside of the tank. It required an aluminum welding.

I found Tony Garmey of Horizon Racing in Maple Valley. Horizon racing serviced all of Pat Hart's Ferraris in the collection until Pat's passing. Tony knows his stuff, is an excellent welder, does everything from setting up several Ferrari Challenge cars' suspensions to restoring old 275 GTBs that arrive in boxes of parts.
He works fast and has fair prices.

What local Challenge cars does he work on?

    Thank you for the comment.
Allow me to be more specific, he owns a Maxwell shock dyno and tests customers' shocks with the end result of producing compression/rebound graphs.

I learned this from 2008 when I was seeking info on my own shocks to see if they were good or bad. I went through two referral chains before I found him as I didn't know where else to go. Here is the 2008 thread I authored then.

While this is contributing data that owner's would find informative, it is in no way a full service in setting up a suspension or working on a Challenge Car. It would seem reasonable that Ferrari Maserati of Seattle probably offers that service, but again, I don't have a Challenge Car and have not been in that need.

Apologies for any confusion or having old data from 2008, my intention was only to help a fellow member in need.

if its just a pinhole and there are no coprrosion issues, i would take it to a radiator shop and have them braze the hole shut.

The tanks are annealed after welding during production and you will create a hard spot at the weld. Depending on where it is... you can create cracking issues down the road.

Brazing doesnt melt the parent material like welding does. Silver soldering will also work.

you could do this yourself with a MAPP gas torch and some brazing rod. Just use flux first and run an airhose into the tank to purge any vapors for a half hour prior to getting flame anywhere near it

Thanks gents, appreciate the feedback and suggestions.

I got the tank out (after removing the shock and rotor) and took it to Performance Radiator (Tacoma). They're brazing a patch on there and will pressure test it. I've done brazing and other types of welding before (gas/MIG) and have the equipment, just don't have the time (unfortunately)! Will re-post when the tank is back in....might be a while as I plan on replacing all fuel lines and such behind or in the area of the tank.

    Thanks again.
