Good to see another member from Johnson County. How are the roads around Hulen? I may have to be in that area tomorrow.
Ice days to body shops are like hail days to roofers. I get first dibs for a ride in Jano's incoming F-40
I think that Bubba passed me today on the way to Saginaw. Cut me off entering 820 at Rufe Snow, crossed to the left hand lane, no blinker. Last I saw of him, he was sliding back to the northbound lane onto I35 with his a$$ end sliding out like Busch blocking Harvick on the last lap at Daytona of the Craftsman Truck Series last year. Even more scarier thing is that I actually remembered that.
Sounds like the guy who lives one block over from me. F250 super cab that he has put a lift kit, grille guard and light bar on. I pulled up beside him today at a redlight with a slight incline. When the light turned green I just let the Quattro idle away and moved up the incline. He gassed it and I could hear the engine racing as the rear tires spun to get some traction. I just settled in about 30 mph. About a block later he came blasting past me about 50 mph on a sheet of ice. Good thing he was going straight. Any slight turn would have resulted in a complete 360 to that idiot. A few blocks later I caught him again at a light (southbound Rufe Snow at 820). Light changed there by McDonalds and I moved ahead toward the right turn onto the 820 service road. I turned right and was about 200 yards from the entry onto 820 when he came around me on the right, squeezed past me and immediately cut me off to take the entry ramp. He entered the 820 traffic slightly out of control and nearly lost it into the median between the lanes as he crossed both lanes of traffic getting on. Good thing the traffic was not extremely heavy there like it usually is. This truck is silver. What was the color of the truck that cut you off there today?? What time was it?? Strange if the same guy who cut me off cut you off too.....
Same in Alaska, that. Trucks, SUV's with big taares, and Subarus all ditch bait when it gets really slick out.
I'm wondering if this weekend's high temps in the 40s will be enough to clear this ice off the roads before the next cold blast.
That very well could have been him. It was around 8:45 yesterday morning. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt thinking he was rushing to a hospital to donate a kidney or or something.
6" of fresh snow on top of the sheet of ice (photo taken yesterday) and I'm not venturing out any time soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
roads are fine, i just went out in my chevy avalanche (2wd) and it was fine, can get up to around 30 with no real concern. just watch out for the idiots who think pressing harder on the gas pedal helps them get out of a fish tail..
throttle better than brakes in a fish tail. that still doesn't help most people exactly 1 second behind on the steering input.
My pipes burst this morning. I knew they would, but didn't expect so soon. I'm water-free. No idea when I'll see a plumber.
Jennie made fun of her boss yesterday who cracked his window as he grew up in North and should have known to gradually warm it up. LOL, Jennie then cracked our truck window today.
