Huh. I thought I'd seen it all here in Texas, but haven't ever seen lightning/thunder in a sleetstorm before. Neat.
WTF it was almost 70 here in Marlin yesterday, thunder woke me up at 4:30am this morning and we will have a predicted high of 27 by days end!!!! Thankfully my gas bill is current lol.
This isn't fun. That's ice. There's supposed to be a road out there between the houses. Private subdivision + freezing weather + ice = stuck for a while. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No snow here in Marlin but plenty of ice. Hey thats a good thing because I need some for my ........ later lol!!
Pretty impressive set of semi's wrecked on 35 South of downtown. I counted at least 15 trucks in wrecks over about 1/4 of a mile. No tracks on my street, I'm not sure anybody has left home.
WOW! I was wondering how much yall were going to get over night. It's coming through Houston now and they say there is a chance of some snow too
I have two old tennis rackets I can strap on to my boots......... Maybe do a little snowboarding on the side of the Bayou by my house...... *whack*
funny you three guys were up at the same time, Jennie could have chatted with you too. me, I slept to 9 AM. Thunder Snow!
http://www.radioreference.com/apps/audio/?stid=48 For your thunder snow entertainment, listen in on police & emergency calls in your area. Gotta give these folks respect for what they get paid. I feel bad for some of these guys but it's amazing some are actually keeping a good humor on the whole situation.
Ground is pretty much solid white at my place. The sidewalk leading out to my driveway was frozen. Had problems sleeping last night. Woke up around 3:45 to the sound of frozen rain hitting my windows. Didn't go back to sleep until 5.

In San Antonio, there is no snow or rain, just cold cold, 33 outside, windy, low of 25 tonight. I drove my friends gallardo spyder in a t-shirt yesterday.
we just went to eat in towncenter. heads up if you've been inside all day that side roads and even major roads like 114 are still iced over and slow moving. It doesn't get above 20 tomorrow, so I bet backups all day tomorrow too. even just in Oklahoma this would be a non-issue because they have the trucks to go over each mile of road 2-3 times with salt and sand.
Damn, its 14 degrees & Gilbert Gottfried was right. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxRokRZyL8w[/ame]
TXU advised of rolling blackouts due to the massive electricity use, KXAS NBC 5 went off the air this morning because of this. Looks like the transmitter crapped out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Apparently Encor controls the power companies and Encor is enforcing the rolling blackouts. Not a great idea in 10 degree weather. Interestingly, even gas-heated houses require power for the thermostats.
i read they were supposed to be 15 minute rolling blackouts. ours here in the north dallas area plano / frisco was 20 minutes this morning around 6:45 am. i turned off some none essential electronics in the house to help the load come down. im shocked about the news station, you would think they had diesel backup for failover
Just heard a transformer blow up down the street. Still posting so perhaps another picked up the load.
So anyone "brave" enough to take their car out in this? I was just wondering that last night driving to the Stars game.
