I used to own an 08 Gallardo Spyder. In the Gallardo there was a plastic piece in the front bumper that could be popped out for tow hook usage. I purchased a specially made aluminum bracket that could screw into the tow hook hole. In the 360 it appears that the tow hook hole is inside the driver side air vent. If I screw the bracket into the vent, it will partially block the vent. My question is, does that vent really have a purpose or is it mostly for show and can be partially blocked?

I had the tow hook plate on my car for about 3 months and never had a issue. It sticks out far enough to really not block the vent and the plate only covers about 1/3 of the vent. The vent serves a purpose, its one of the 2 radiators you can't block it but the plate bracket works well there. Its fugly but it works, I finally drilled my bumper and put the plate where it belongs.

I like the Fabspeed bracket best. As you can see, it can easily withstand track speeds, though I suppose it would have been easy enough to remove it for that (remove and replace the three long screws shown above). And if you leave it on, you can use the tow hook socket as intended (for a tow hook; a good idea to keep it mounted when on track).

The tow hook one is hard to line up and keep straight. Given how careless other people are when parallel parking, the tow hook bracket scares me.

I had the tow hook version and hated it... I installed the Fabspeed unit and love it. Much better solution.

Evan, is the tow hook GoPro mount something you guys make? Now I need one of those. :)

Yep, I like the fabspeed much better as opposed to the above toe hook version I bought first. Here's of a pic of the same car with the fabspeed bracket. The one advantage of the toe hook is that you and take it on and off

Just curious what happens if you get caught without front plates in the United States America? Is it serious? Fines? Here in Canada it's pretty relaxed I THINK, well in Toronto, not sure of other province if someone can chime in on that. In Quebec, front plates are not required. I got pulled 4 times and and each time it's just a warning because I keep my front plate in the driver side pocket and was able to produce it when required. The cop said I can put if on the dash. I refuse to drill holes in my bumper!

Depends on in what state you live. Some sates require a front plate, others don't. From what I've seen enforcement depends on local law enforcement.
    California is strict
    Maryland is strict
Texas requires a front plate but enforcement is spotty. Been driving around here for 12 years without front plates on my cars with no tickets and have passed by hundreds of cops

Virginia is pretty strict as well... I believe it is only a "fix it" ticket, not very expensive and no points. Though, why pay an extra tax? I hate having to run a front plate, but there are some nice alternatives now...

I used to not run a front plate on my Pantera. I had two fellow Pantera owners tell me about getting pulled and ticketed for no front plate. One said the cop actually pulled a u-turn and pushed his way through traffic just to give him a ticket for no front plate. That us kind of excessive but why give them a reason to pull you over?

I had a friend fab up a plate mount for the Pantera a few years ago... Looks decent enough, but I would much prefer not to have one.
