    Hi all,
OK gearheads... what is the consensus on this tool: http://www.motoreva.com/item.cfm?itemid=111&categoryid=171
    Instructions here:

    http://www.motoreva.com/MT-112-User.pdf

I found this deep in google while looking for a Hertz frequency tool in case I "man-up" & do the belt service... Evidently these were made exactly for belt tensioning on Ducati bikes..

For $249 for a USA made tester seems like a heck of a deal after seeing what others go for...Looks like it does only one thing HZ.. which is all we need since we know the value Ferrari states between which is: 190-220 hz

    AC belt 131-145hz
    Alternator/Water pump 90-100hz
    steering pump 90-100hz

Thoughts? I pulled the trigger on one..

Looks like a phone number for the company is 440-617-0971 through paypal checkout...

Ingpr, I blame you for putting me on this hunt ;)

    looks like a great solution.

    obvious question....
is the frequency spec for f-car belts approximately in the mid range of this meter(300Hz)?

    Also...
Any sources for tuning forks that are near the F-car spec for calibration & back checking of the meter?

    Rgds,
    Vincenzo

    Hi Vincenzo:

I updated Hz values above. Meter is well within range- from site "Our meter has a basic accuracy of plus/minus 1 hz from 50 to 600 hz."

From what I have read 400hz is where most belts break so this seems like a Great tool within range of what any of us would need.

Figure test on belt before removal just to see what kind of values it shows...
There are also Tuning sounds for frequency on youtube for guitar people that I am sure would see how accurate the meter would be.. I learned alot about frequency tonight - lol/.

    Lol!
    Chris it will be fun!
That tool is so important that it can be handful when you need to work on the alternator, water pump, ect.
Did you guys found the scan any helpful?

If anyone is close by to me (Chino Hills, CA). I can always bring over the Clavis meter to compare the result for reference.

Can this meter also be used for obtaining the correct tension of the cam timing belt on a 348?

If it is a rubber belt, yes it can read the tension in frecuency.

    Good Find!!!

I just might do my own belt replacement next time around.

Does anyone have sources for the tools to 'lock' the cams and crankshaft for when the cam belt come off?

    Thanks!!!!!

Daniel (Ricambi) has them... I just bought them both a few days ago - figured with the savings from labor why not have the proper tools.. Believe it or not the ferrari workshop manual (get one) shows vice grips to hold the cams stationary.. Sounds hack but its what they show.
    Here they are:
    Flywheel lock:

    Tensioner wrench:

Figured I may do some of my buddies in the future so I have what I need now, Kinda looking forward to October when my 3 years is due :)

Great you got a clavis meter. Eddie is back in town. I've been trying to get him to change his belts. You need to help work on him before it breaks. I can help him do everything except for 25+ years I've adjusted belts by feel. If he knew a clavis was available maybe he would get off his rear end.

Thanks for the post/source of the tools. I am very surprised that Ferrari uses Vice-grips... very Hack!!! I might see if I can do something better.

Tried it, it doesn't work. Call it the angle or whatever, just don't work with the 360.

Honestly, the vice grip is the only tool I can think of that provides absolutely no chance of cam movement...

Eddie have been talking about this for years, tell him to bring it over. Few pair of hands should make the job much faster. I know Eddie is a serious DIYer shouldn't have any problem doing this. I think I told him like two years ago that I bought a Clavis.

I hope to see him today and I will bust his chops more. If we can get him going one day we will meet. He has zero excuse except pure 100% laziness.

Sounds good to me, would be great to finally meet you in person.

My lift is free until next weekend, then it's tied up for couple weeks for a 911 engine drop....
