Free software to remove Date Stamps in photos?

    Anyone know of free PC software (or a free website) that can remove a Date Stamp on a digital photo?

    I took a bunch of pictures with a new point-and-shoot digital camera and didn't realize I had the Date & Time data added to the bottom-right corner of every picture.
    I have since turned off this date stamping but I'd like to remove it from the set of pics I took previously.

    Photoshop can do this with one of its advanced features, but I'm looking for a free way of doing it.

    Any ideas?

    This would be a great idea for a free website if one doesn't already exist.

    Serious answer - I haven't used it in a while, but am certain "The Gimp" can also do it.

    Warning; The Gimp is now as big & powerful (bloated?) as Photoshop so the learning curve is a little steep.

    Ron are the photos you are taking getting timestamped or are you trying to remove timestamp from something else?
