Just finished watching and my have picked my jaw up off the floor. That Merc is blisteringly fast. 1 sec ahead of everyone else. That is nothing short of incredible

Mercedes has resources in the extreme. In 2012, Mercedes was developing the 2012, 2013 and 2014 cars (!!!). 3 cars. That's unheard off.

Frankly I'm dead tired of the sport. I didn't watch Hungary race live, only rewatched it the day after because I was told it was good. With faint hope I watched quali today, thinking the race may just be worth watching if Verstappen (forget anyone else) gets within 3 tenths or so. Faint hope indeed. We have that utter clown saying ''how tough'' his quali was yesterday...in a car a second faster than anything else on the grid! worst case scenario would be 2nd spot! How is that ''tough''. This **** hasn't got any idea what a tough car is. None.

I might watch the start, more faint hope that the mercs will try to occupy the same piece of track in the first couple of corners. They won't...I know that. And then go to bed. At least 2 more years of this because ''for financial reasons'' it was deemed wise that the same cars would be kept for 2021, with very limited development. Isn't that convenient when you have a car that's minimum 1.5 seconds faster than your car last year? It's a scam.

Single lap pace Gasly seems a bit better. Race pace? No question, Albon blows gasly out of the water IMO.

Would love to hear him say "we have the field covered by a mile and I just need to keep my second rate team-mate behind me and rack up wins and records at unprecedented pace."

    I respectfully disagree
Gasly is doing very well this year in race pace.
    Kvyat is nowhere near him

Will Red Bull try another permutation among his drivers ?

Bring back Kvyat after a couple of years in the purgatory perhaps?

I think Red Bull is too hasty judging young drivers.

It certainly isnt Mercedes fault but totally disagree with that article, the fault lands entirely at the doorstep of the FIA for tying the rivals feet together and asking them to run the 100m in under 10 seconds. Draconian restrictions impede progress and once ahead you have little to worry about your rivals catching up, even the likes of Newey has little impact on getting above the Merc's.

The battle has been won before any engines are fired up. What SF are sadly missing is focus, to split the team into 2 and service two top drivers is insane. It would be far better to concentrate on one driver (whoever that might be) and gain valuable data logging from the second driver.

The bloke who wrote that is a idiot.

Isnt it strange how there are no in car footage of the Merc's using the DAS system? At least i havent seen any so far.

All gone quiet on the little piece of development by the merc team.

Christian Horner explained very clearly early this year what is expected of any Verstappen team mate.
He should be a tail-gunner and collect the maximum of points for the team without ever threatening him.
Neither Kvyat, nor Gasly satisfied them in that role, and now Albon may be next for relegation.

Exactly. I've said it too many times now in the last while, but look how the FIA went after Ferrari and Red Bull when they where deemed to dominant...and how the FIA is still pursuing Ferrari and Red Bull even today, yet lets Mercedes get away with ANYTHING.

That's true...pre-Red Bull and Post Red Bull, gasly has pace. But in the red bull? He is nowhere...Albon at least goes for overtakes, and finishes a little bit closer to Verstappen. Not near enough, however...Red Bull needs him much closer so that they can play alternative strategies out more (ok, so the gap this year is so large to Mercedes it doesn't really matter, but in a more sane championship...)

Impossible for a driver to be competitive with this kind of roadmap.
He has a lot to learn about human psychology i guess.
Toto is a lot more subtle with Bottas by letting him in fantasy land where he could imagine beating Hamilton one day.
Of course he will be fired the next year if he was too dangerous for hammy

Well, Toto allowed his drivers to fight on the track for 3 years, and Rosberg to beat Hamilton for the title once.
Now in 2020, the challenge is different, of course.
What's at stake is Schumacher's records of 91 GP wins and 7 WDCs.
Mercedes would be completely stupid to put that in jeopardy when they are within reach, no?

    Disagree
People remembers only the epic fight between teammates.
I bet ten years later from now Hamilton's success will be diluted in memory.
    Only Mercedes dominance will last.

That may be your take on it.
    Sorry, I don't share it.
Too much sour grapes about Hamilton in your thinking.
I forgot, he is not French ...

From this, it looks like the 2nd and 3rd row of the grid should make a bigger move in Q2

But they CAN'T because of the tire rules !

You are the one who said you were bias towards French drivers (Gasly) because you are French.
Maybe you are unable to appreciate a winner if he isn't French; your sense of "patriotism" has clouded your judgement.

You are right i am patriotic and happy with that.
Maybe next step you will call me a racist.
    I won't be surprised.
I love nations because i like differencies.
Ferrari for me is italian genius and this is why i love it (design, sound, emotions etc ..)
    Nothing against hammy the driver.
Just his attitude and the fake story building around him.
