Yes. Had Verstappen not crashed and suffered reliability in Bahrain, not crashed in Baku and not hit the barrier in Monaco (2 5 places and one 2nd), he'd be on 134 points now. Ricciardo, for his reliability and crash, (all would be 4th places), would be on 132...I didn't calculate the points loss that Vettel/Ham gained by their non finishes but they'd be within 10 points of the title lead. Hurts, that.
Just watched it. Wow that was really entertaining. IMO, Alonso was the best driver of the day. He started on the pit lane and finished 8th. Yes, there were some good cars that didn't make it to the end but still, that's pretty impressive. Kudo's to Ferrari for not asking Kimi to give up his spot. Vettel lost this race probably because of that penalty. And Kimi really drove well with an awesome start. Vettel's pass of Hamilton was as close as you can get to not crashing without crashing. And Haas: Awesome all weekend. That was no fluke. Ferrari 10 points ahead on the Constructors.... bad day for Toto.
So when is Ferrari going to wake up and dump this bum Vettel. Never liked him. Never will like him. And he won't bring a driver's championship to Ferrari, ever.
Weather looks very good! -- https://weather.com/en-GB/weather/tenday/l/4b5a0b4e9cfb446b0a6ac39492cde189b5ef6308738d4ccd8396022042ff1b60
Very interesting days race. A little surprised more hasn’t been made of Max’s nudge of Kimi - which is how got past. He should have returned the position. Could have been a win for Kimi.
Toto - A downbeat Toto Wolff has sought to explain how Mercedes made their mistake with Lewis Hamilton's strategy at the Austrian GP, claiming the world champions "didn't react" to the Virtual Safety Car and lost the race because of it. Sorry but the car failed and thats the story. There was no potential to win the race due to mechanical failure. Toto the car failed. BOTH
Can't penalize every single tiny little nudge. Max had his nose alongside so had a right to be there, the touch was microscopic. Not a big deal. Penalize that you might as well penalize all overtaking that doesn't happen on straights... And I'd rather have seen Kimi win it.
I thought all the blues were for the car ahead of me, That’s why I was going so fast to make the pass. Sheesh, this is really bad luck, huh ?
Toto is full of crap. Lewis did react to the VSC as Lewis saw the VSC signal boards and entered the pit lane road.....but Lewis got no response from the pits and exited the pit lane at the last second before commiting fully into pit lane. I saw video of this.
Congrats to SF...lead both manufacturers and driver championships. Kimi goes into third place. Guess we can’t depend on merc to dnf both cars every week...last merc double dnf was 1955.
Hamilton's tires were shot anyway. He would have finished in the points but his race was over. Kimi breaking the track record at the end is pretty sweet
He’s probably suggesting The car suffered from driving in dirty air after clocking up the pit, but bottom line is both cars failed. They may have failed in clean or dirty air
Fuel pressure would be independent of air from the car in front.. Sounds like a electro-mechanical failure possibly.
