You seem to forget about Schumacher.. the best of all time. He came from the dominant car in the grid at the time [plus his incredible] talent. It took some time until everything clicked after all the right people were in place; and what a glorious period SF had until 2005
The Williams wasn't exactly a slouch. Schumi won -- but not just because of a "superior" car. And look what happened to Ferrari after Ross Braun left. The red cars' success wasn't all Schumi.
You are 100% correct my friend. The team dominated because of the right combination of driver and management and staff; something that our beloved Scuderia has not had for a long time now Let us see how SF will do in 2021.
I guess Mercedes will never dare to have Russell and Hamilton in the cars at the same time - Hamilton does not have much margin over Bottas but that's enough for him to be comfortable and win consistently. With a team mate really challenging him it would be very counter productive for Mercedes.
I'd kinda like to see a "musical chairs" race -- even if it's not for season points. Mix up the drivers and cars: See what Lewis could do in, say, an Apha Tauri; what Kimi could do in a Mercedes; what Max could do with a Williams.
Congrats to Mad Max for a stunning performance, well done! Also nice job by Bottas. And solid performance by Stroll. Just afraid that Stroll will get punted in the first corner: He is right between the two bullies who took him out already this year. Leclerc and Kvyat.
I'm here man, great season for Hamilton getting #7. I will give a final assessment of the season after the race
Don't get me wrong, ktu, Hamilton is the very best in ages. I am a diehard tifoso of the reds, but what SF gave us this season, is weak and shameful. They are lost without English/German knowhow. During the great Schumi years, only di Montezemolo and the mechanics were Italian.
What a sad season indeed. The catastrophic results haven't stopped high bidding for the SF1000 F1 Ferrari...., though. Neither for some race gloves and helmets. Auction finishes tomorrow. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/fe20/once-in-a-millennium/lots/n0009-ferrari-sf1000-show-car-2020/1016797
I have the feeling that a Russell / Bottas team would make more sense than Hamilton / Russell in 2022.
Hard to say. Russell is a different cat than Max. Would it be a “handoff” to the future? Lewis is still strong but he’s in that age place where skills start to break down (I don’t know what to expect of Alonso). Toto seems to think they will be paired but there’s a lot of time between now and then.
Sergio Perez will take a grid penalty for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after Racing Point elected to change his Mercedes power unit for the Formula 1 season finale.
