Will wait for P3......;)
Actually I was surprised Checo managed to grab top spot. The in-car from his previous lap looked horrendous, he was struggling everywhere, not even near a decent time let alone best of the session. Personally believe there’s a bag of time certain teams chose to keep under wraps. Not buying from the men of constant sorrow....
No sorrow. We have F1. If they like bags of sand thats ok. Max appeared well sorted. Very balanced car. I do sense a RedBull win!
RedBull needs to maximize this and do a 1-2. Ferrari may not be as fast, but they should aim for P3/P4, wary of the McLarens. The Mercs, I'm not sure they are sandbagging. P16 for Bottas, what is that? Also noticed, Alonso P6... Is he starting to get the grips of his Alpine? I like that.
Nope., that's how really good driver know where the limit is, they try untill it crashes..than they know the limit....as long as he keeps it in one piece in the race all is fine.
They know he's much faster than their beloved crapilton, and their asses still ache from mONZA...2019!!!
cRAPILTON CRASHED EVERY SINGLE RACE FOR A COUPLE OF RACES WHEN HE DIDN'T HAVE THE BEST CAR, SO THEY CAN EAT CROW FOR SOME TIME BEFORE THEY CAN EVEN SPEAK ABOUT A DRIVER OF cHARLES CALIBER...
I smell MB sandbagging to keep the illusion of competition...probably with FIA urging and involvement. Certainly budget cuts hurt, but not to the degree they really would if there was actual policing of expenditures. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mercedes go for second and fifth in the race, then come roaring back with a heroes story when they get to France and dominate for the rest of the season. Very Hollywood. Gives Lewis another chance to thank the team for all their hard work, and even shed a tear over having to put in "the drive of his life" to claim his eighth title.
Remenber guys, we all saw Mclaren dominating for years, williams, Ferrari, Merc, it all ends one day, doesn't mean they really lost it, but it will happen one day, maybe it's for real...
IMO it's a sandbag. ''Look FIA how fast the rest are with their ultra flex wings! Do something! Make us be at the front again!" Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've heard RB's new engine department/company (?) is exempt from the new budget cap. So that might be a prelimenary answer to what F1 teams will do next; making sure part(s) of their businesses are exempt by putting some of their investments in seperate legal entity's and/or making sure parts are "bought" from "external" suppliers which are funded seperately from their main activities.
I say none of the above, not even the cat. Said experts can’t be too “expert” if they’re calling the front wing movements “flutter” and disregarding the gross flexing of the wing.
I hope Charles’ radio message about his tires going off after 6 laps on the long runs was like the usual fake HAM tire crises messages—that Merc use to try to fool the opposition—and the car behaves well in the race. Or maybe the low downforce set-up was too optimistic and they’ll start with what Carlos was running. For sure a win is off the table but would be nice to see the reds in contention for a podium.
Mercedes out of shape The problem with the tires Mercedes is at war with street circuits. After the bankruptcy of Monte Carlo, the next disaster looms in Baku. Again, the black silver arrows do not bring the tires up to temperature. But there is hope because the long runs fit and the race track on the Caspian Sea is overtaking-friendly. The factors against Mercedes Mercedes has a long evening ahead of them. The engineers have to find solutions to a problem that has been haunted by the Silver Arrows all season, but has only clipped their wings since Monaco. Because it intensifies on slow street circuits. No matter how hot it is, the tires on the Mercedes simply don't want to get up to temperature quickly enough. Hamilton and Bottas miss the magical tire window by miles in their W12. With hypothermic tires, lap time is lost in every corner. And that adds up to 20 corners on a 6.003 kilometer lap. Even an asphalt that was up to 50 degrees hot in the sun was of no use to the long-term winners. Mercedes had already expected in advance that tire problems could also arise on the second street circuit after Monte Carlo. But not to this extent. The long lap in Baku should actually make preparing the tires easier. Plus the high temperatures. Red Bull and Ferrari are doing it again. Both get reliable temperature in the tires - regardless of the mixture. The red racers have a different problem. You are overusing the tires. Towards the end of his long run on medium tires, Charles Leclerc smeared completely. With graining on the rear wheels, the Monegasse lost more than three seconds. So the Ferrari will not win a flower pot in the race. Red Bull ignites the tires quickly and, on the other hand, does not wear them excessively. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/formel-1/mercedes-training-gp-aserbaidschan-problem-reifentemperatur/&prev=search&pto=aue
Kravitz says Mercedes apparently ran the wrong wing yesterday. Today, they have a double pillar rear wing with slightly higher downforce to help heat up the tyres.
