I think it would be more fun to get into a fist fight with a deer. Now there's a challenge :)

Looks like your pet buck is hungry, the way he's staring up at the feeder... ;)

Here is a shot from my trail camera this week. Surprised how little the fawn still is. Must have been a late rut breeding.

Nice Gershwin! Our Bow season starts today. We have the best acorn crop I've ever seen.

Thanks Mitchell. Wasnt a gut shot but probably close. Used a Rage broadhead which opens things way up.

It was a doe. Head is already off hanging upside down getting ready to process. Love this cold weather! This one was meat for the freezer. Got some large bucks but have not seen them yet. It was about a 30 yard shot.

From field to freezer in less that two days! (I am not an expert on processing a deer. Just self taught so be easy on me).

man, you guys have the best Deer! our Deer are small, 130-150 B&C is considered a great Deer here. only down there close to Mexico or north to Kansas are there bigger Deer. I got a new 250 ac lease late this year, tower blind and feeders won't even be installed until Thursday. I won't do archery this year, but a month to go before rifle.

Nice shot, GTS. Boy, she went down fast.

Forgive my ignorance, but I have to ask, it seems like feeders take the sport out of it. Is that true? Or are do they just get the deer in the general area and improve your odds. It seems like if you had a blind near the feeder, it would be a gimme.

Or maybe your primary goal is for meat instead, not sport?

Feeders are fine in some states. Using a feeder doesn't guarantee anything with deer. There are so many acorns around that they seem to ignore the feeders at time. As of right now I am not using a feeder. I do have to say I do think there is a little more sport in getting a deer without a feeder but I been using the feeder more for seeing what's in the area. This season I been hunting areas without feeders. Little more challenging because you need to predict their behavior without luring them in. Nothing wrong with feeders so I guess it's a preference. Do I hunt feeders sometime..yep but heading towards not using them for the most part. I hunt first for the meat and then it's the sport of it. I don't like to kill just to kill. I think that is wrong to have an attitude like that. I don't waste anything I take. I been able to help out a family with the venison I take which is a good feeling. They are hit worst than I with the economy and they appreciate the deer giving up it's life. I am sure the feelings are not reciprocal.

I had a cool experience last weekend. Sunrise on my stand, squirrels everywhere. Red fox sneaks into the scene, crouched and stalked like a house cat does, and nailed a squirrel about 50' from me. Remaining squirrels barked warning signals for 30 minutes, but too late for their buddy. Cell phone photo was also too late, but it was neat to witness that scene. :)

they are so cute. years ago a very young red fox wandered into the shop in really poor health. i fed it and the fox moved in under the office. months later i had baby and the were very cute. i could feed them by hand. all that free food caused raccoons to move in and of course babies came soon enough. when i had to buy two 50lb. bags of dog food per week and the baby coons came into the office winning about my being late for dinner i had enough. cut off the food i still have foxes and coons in my area. just not in the office. customers loved the critters
