I like that ford made a reasonably priced winter tire and wheel set as a stock accessory you can spec when buying. I did it aftermarket for my st.
Question of this rs vs 2m comes down to - would you rather have a base model of a high level car like the bmw or the top of a base car like focus?
My Fiat dealer offered winter wheels/tires as a dealer option. It look like a great deal until I got an email from Tire Rack offering the same combo for about $100 less per corner. I went with Tire Rack. Mark
Different cars. 4 wheel drive 4 door hatch versus rear wheel drive coup. I hadn't thought of cross shopping them myself.
The 1 series is now the 2 series. BMW has made all coupes be even numbers, including the 3 series now being the 4 series. I don't know that the M235 compares to the RS. RS is much more hardcore where as the BMW is more luxury. Maybe an S3 is a better comparison?
I just received the newest edition of "My Ford" magazine, here is the article... https://www.myfordmag.com/seedo/2016-focus-rs .

They may be leaving room in the range for the Fiesta RS, which could easily be a thrilling mini-hatchback. (If they keep the same character we see in the Fiesta ST and go to 3-door for the US market, we may have The Boss's new daily.)
My only issue with both the Fiesta ST and Focus ST is that they are FWD (I know they are supposed to be FUN) but... I do not do FWD.
I have a current Gen Focus ST. These are great cars, but they have torque steer like a mother and really lacking on brakes. I considered upgrading to an RS, but for 50k I can buy several other vehicles I'd much rather have.
Interesting. Does anyone know if RS will have upgraded brakes? Great brakes on my Porsche have saved me on a few occasions, both on the track and the back roads...T
It has Brembo calipers on proprietary rotors. According to the reviews, they're more than up to the task. PS I hate torque steer!
They had an RS at the Baltimore Autoshow yesterday. Brakes are much larger than a stock focus. I should have taken a pic. I was surprised at the size for a hot hatch.
To be honest, I know nothing about torque steering, except what I read on Wiki, but wouldn't the AWD of the RS counteract that tendency? T
Yes. Have you ever driven a FWD vehicle? Did the vehicle pull to the right or left under acceleration from a stop? That is torque steer. Drove my moms '14 Escape yesterday, what a POS, and accelerated w/out hands on steering wheel...wth! FWD should be outlawed.
Thanks, Gregg. First car was a Ford Escort. GT model. Loved it. But that may be nostalgia talking. I don't remember any torque steering, but accelerating from a stop was not my MO. T
Surprisingly, there's no talk yet about 4WD understeer. It seems they've done a great job tuning this thing.
My local Ford dealer has them MSRP @ $35,730.00 base. There are numerous option choices that would easily surpass $40K and then there will be dealer markup because the US allocation is less than 10K units for the first year. Ford has a winner on their that hands you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be driving one ASAP! Gonna be exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
