Anybody been following the news of this beast?

Ford just confirmed the power and torque specs of the Focus RS. It will put down 345 hp and 325 lb ft of torque in normal applications, with an overboost feature allowing up to 347 lb ft of torque for a maximum of fifteen seconds when the throttle pedal is on the floor. AWD is standard, so you probably won't have to worry too much about spinning the tires each time the light turns green. Interestingly enough, a six speed manual gearbox is the only transmission offered at launch; no automatic is planned, though with only a little more than 7,000 units slated for production, no one should care.

The Focus RS's chief rivals, the Golf R and WRX STI, make 292 hp / 280 lb ft of torque, and 305 hp / 290 lb ft of torque, respectively.

Ford really threw down the gauntlet here in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how its competitors respond.

Looking very impressive, I hope the stealerships don't tack on a "market adjustment" price.

Even so, I don't think they'll have any problem selling each one they make.

Sat in a Focus ST, a year or so back at a local auto show, and I thought it was nice. But, this RS is total bad a$$! The story said it was supposed to do hill climb at Goodwood. If so, anyone know the results?

Nick I have been following the RS closely and even joined the Focus RS forum- Ford Focus RS Forum. The biggest item everyone is impatiently waiting for is the price and hoping Ford keeps its promise of pricing it competitively in its segment. From what I have read is the RS will not be delivered by the truck load and will be a "order only" vehicle.

The RS's release date is official for Spring 2016.

If there are more eager buyers than available cars, then of course dealers will ask more than suggested retail. Supply vs demand. Sellers are free to ask whatever they want for a product, and ultimately the market sets the price. Suggested retail is just that - a suggestion, because individual markets and local supply/demand vary.

Don't you know? When dealers have a loser on their hands and sell it at a loss no one cares. When they have a winner and ask market price they are "Stealerships"...

Some will get an ADM but you can find dealers who will sell at MSRP for the RS. Ford allocation is not yet out on the RS I believe.

Rough estimates on US availability is around 7-8K units in the first year but just like all the other speculations it should be taken with a grain of salt. I spoke with a local Ford dealer yesterday concerning the RS and he was ignorant of the RS. He called me today after doing his research and informed me his dealership will start taking orders next week and will be receiving their first allotment in early November. I have been given a invitation for a test drive and selection of my preferred options and color.

The BMW has been great but long in the tooth regarding performance/fun to drive.

Tom from what I have learned/heard the base price will fall between $35-$37K. It seems there are two platforms to choose from with one being base and then a fully loaded platform.

Wow. That is a lot of car for the price. Looks great on Youtube. I thought this video was funny,

Yes sir I also think it is a lot of car for the money and the aftermarket tuners/parts specialist are drooling in anticipation. The only flaw imo is the restrictive/heavy dual outlet exhaust system. I hope the aftermarket can remedy this with a singular free flowing system.

The Jay Leno piece also mentioned the exhaust being more quiet than he expected. And, he was driving a Euro tuned version that was 420 hp IIRC...T

That RS was a non-US monstrosity that sent 320HP to the front wheels (stock) and we all know how anal those UK cheeky monkeys are. The 420 was a tuner model not a factory option.

Criticizing the exhaust before any buyer drives one and before any are for sale?

Your posts are so full of ****.

Move out of your mom's basement, get a job, sober up, and then talk cars.
I'm on the RS forums because I own an ST that I'm likely trading in. You post there with such incredible BS about your exotic car experiences it's embarrassing. I haven't responded there simply because it would be like watching a train wreck.

The biggest flaw ford has done is the throttle pedal too far forward compared to the brake. You'd know that if you've driven any focus. If they screw that up on the RS many people will be upset (although there are aftermarket risers available. If the brakes weren't overboosted it would help).

Post up (there or here) when you buy one. Nobody will be holding their breath.
