Any of you park at a regular storage facility.. Would you do this? A friend of mine bought it up and I thought it was a good question to ask..

If not there, where do you park your cars?

Many collector car owners are teaming up and building "active storage" environments. We did this in New York with the Bridgehampton Motoring Club.

It has all the benefits of a personal collector car storage facility in a community environment.

Our facility has top security, year round climate control, members' lounge, picnic areas, an automobilia collection, and internet video access.

Members have 24 hour access to their vehicles and park museum style. No one moves their car but them. The facility is also walking distance to public transportation.

You can find out more and operate BMCs' live-cams at www.bridgemc.com.

BMCs are now being planned for other locations in the U.S. too.

    Best regards,

    Rob

It looks like half the place is empty on the cams... What kind of car is that under the cover?

i had a 355 when i lived at an apt and just parked it in the parking garage. kept a low deductible but nothing ever happened. spots were assigned so i knew my car neighbors.

we did have a month where cars were being jacked up and rims stolen but my car was never touched. i guess not much of a black market for ferrari rims :)

I caught this guy on our live cam at 10:30 PM at night wiping fluids off our beautiful floor. He was preparing his space to drive back his car into his assigned space.

I live in a condo with a community garage; assigned spaces. I have two, so I know I can only be dinged on one side for each car!!! People know that there are old sportscars under the covers and no one messes with them. No Problems.
That said, they'll get broken into in the next week!!!!

I'm in a community garage as well - 24 hour security and we make sure our guys get a good bonus from us at Christmas. I just add a new spot for each car. Don't have assigned spots but I have a good spot for the 348 that I manage to keep by putting the Benz in it when I take the F-car out.

Here's all three together - doesn't happen usually!!

    Cheers

Now you guys have no excuse!

I just bought a 1500sf warehouse to keep my cars in. Right now they're in various slots around town. Our house was built in 1925 and garage space is inadequate. The warehouse is still a bare shell, so I'm open to (even begging for) suggestions as to lighting, flooring, etc. Also, does anyone have recommendations on lifts?

    Thanks.

    Jack

I have a good garage but I would not hesitate to park in a secure storage facility or something like BMC has. I do know of a really nice "car barn" here in downtown Denver that has several race cars and other exotics. Looks like crap from the outside as it should but it is awesome on the inside.

I'm parking my new 328 at Andy Greene Sports & Vintage Racecars. He usually has quite the collection in the warehouse & I trust him completely. He is also an excellent Ferrari tech & has maintained priceless Ferraris. This is only untill I finish my garage.

BMC has a Lincoln that comes every fall from Georgia. If you want, we will put it on the same enclosed trailer.

When the cars aren't at the house or the shop, we use an secure warehouse for them. Pretty cheap option.

I'm in Northern NJ (Bergen County) and was just offered 2000' of warehouse space at a decent rate. I'm stuck in another building until May 2005 but don't want to let this opportunity pass. As such, I am looking for a neat/clean, trustworthy tenant (as fanatical as myself....see http://www.ultimategarage.com for an insight) interested in subletting space to help me cover the monthly expenses and the cost of some initial improvements (lighting, humidity control, security and an epoxy floor). I will be using the building to showcase some of the tools and equipment I sell for garages and workshops. Please contact me directly if interested (phone 201-262-0412 or send a private message). My Alfa spent three years in a "U store it" type of place in Virginia Beach, while I was on temp assignment somewhere without roads. (Company provided 4x4s and snow cats only.)

The only problem was that such places are not climate controlled, and I had to clean most of the electrical connectors due to the humid air.

But this is an issue I haven't resolved yet for the D.C. area. The public storage areas are relatively pricy (e.g. about $300/mo for one car's worth), but very few houses have more than a small two car garage (with low ceilings, too), unless you get a long way from the city ("long" in terms of gridlocked commute).

I'm probably going to have to get a public storage area for a while, though, as I'll have to bring the Alfa down from MA when the condo sells, and I'm probably not going to have a garage here by then. (The house hunting is not going well -- a combination of sticker shock and surprise at the horrific traffic snarls.)
