Question. (read on first). OK....... When the previous owner of my Pantera had the GT5 body added, he choose a different yellow. Fly Yellow. Best I can know is the car was painted between 1995 and 2000. So my questions would be. 1) Were there any deviations to the "fly yellow" color, or can someone tell me what years it was available? 2) What would the paint code be for any of you that might have one? (I'm gonna as one of the local guys that has a 348 (MarkT) if I see him) Any help would be great. (Just want to make sure when I head to the paint shop I start off with the right codes before they scan the paint). Tx, BobR
Only one Ferrari Light Yellow....F102 IIRC..we were just talking about it..Try a search feature... FoH does color match on site in a bad azz computer controlled system.....
Shheeit I lost my sticker! Help! Help! LOL! What's THAT gonna cost to fix..????? This could take off into a "blue dot on wheel" thread....
Guys..........thanks much! (actually I love the FY color, its brighter than the original Pantera color). The PO caught a speed bump with the airdam and there is an area that started to spider.............so finally time for me to fix. Again. Thanks I do appreciate it!! BobR
We're here for you, padner...drop in anytime! I keep spray cans in the trunk for rush hour repairs.......
The better auto paint supply houses have a color meter which is placed on the car and readings taken for exact paint match, even compensating for fade or original paint being mismixed.
Hi! What is the original yellow colour of the dino 308 gt4? I am looking a pic with this colour? Thanks!!
From professional Ferrari painter Jon Byers who has painted Ferraris that have won consecutive years at Pebble Beach since 1996 in response to my inquiry: "PPG paint and the code was DBC-81648 "
They changed the name in '94/'95 to Giallo Fer (still code 102) and then again to Giallo Modena in '96 along with a switch from glasurit to ppg. I would get the car read as you could have giallo fly, giallo fer or giallo modena, all with same code but different manufacturer and possibly different make up. Only reason I know that is I have a '94 build '95 f355 painted in the giallo fer 102 glasurit paint and there don't appear to be too many that have that designation, most are giallo fly or the later ppg giallo modena. Craziness.
Yes, but I spent a bit of time researching the paint code for my current Ferrari painting and wanted to post an actual formulation that could be purchased. Ferrari color codes are usually a starting place for painters that can lead down dead ends and the paint shop must resolve these further with practice spray outs. My intention was to be helpful.
Yup, my 70 Daytona was Giallo Fly with Nero blood groove and I always wondered if there was a PPG equivalent.
