Have a quick listen to this :

For a small cost (albeit a PITA to fit) the California now has a nice loud exhaust which can be controlled by an in car remote control. Remote switches the exhaust valves open or back to normal.

They was very little difference on tick over but upto 4/5k revs the increase in noise was noticeable.

    What do you think ?

I have one of these and it's terrific. Some people pin their valves open instead, but it's much better to have the ability to switch back and forth as there are times when you don't want or need the extra sound.
An alternative is to physically cut the control wire to the actuator, run a hard wire to the passenger compartment and install a hard switch, but do you really want to do that to your car? I didn't.

I have my exhaust sound switched on the mannetto

It's just a change to the engine management software on my car, it's a 15 minute job to flash the new software into the car

Comfort is exhaust closed at all revs and load
Sport is exhaust open at all revs and load

I didn't like the idea of an extra switch, I like that I didn't have to have the bumper taken off and three hours labor

If I didn't do it in the engine management, I would do it with the caprisio remote valve, I think it's well priced for what it does and they haven't really applied a huge Ferrari tax

Hot BMW can you please elaborate how that works with your steering wheel and the exhaust. I interested. I presuming the dealer did the flash for you?

    Thanks

Hotbmwm3's programming skills are way beyond mine, but if the choice is as binary as literally described (either always closed at all revs and load, or always open at all revs and load), it's not something I'd want to do. I don't have dyno testing to show this, but I would be surprised if there were zero benefit to the valve opening curve programmed into the valve opening routine. More likely there is at least some benefit. I rev the engine enough to get the valves open even in Comfort mode, and I wouldn't want to have to worry that I was leaving performance on the table (or damaging the engine; though that seems highly unlikely) because the valves won't open with the modified all-closed routine. The Capristo valve remote is either OEM curve or all-open, which means that instead of an all-closed position, you can retain the OEM curve for Comfort and Sport modes, while being able to switch to all-open when the mood suits. As noted above, the Capristo kit is reasonably priced, and it only takes about an hour or less to install it (at least that's about what it takes if you have access to a lift and you are taking your time).

I am assuming, at 15-16sec into vid, that the switch was flipped?
If that b the case, i likey!

It's actually a system the garage made - costs approx £150, probably works in a very similar way. It's a 2 button switch - pressing 'A' opens the exhaust valves permanently - which sounds great on the over run (normally these close when you lift off the throttle) or press 'B' that leaves the exhaust back to normal ie valves open at the normal rev range - some remote systems leave the valves permanently closed.
If anyone is interested in the system I can put you in touch with the garage.

I like that idea - I had asked for something similar on my Stradale, I wanted the valves to open at a lower rev range than 4k in Race mode. Suppose it's possibly but you need to know someone who can programme Ferrari software.

Yes - you can see the condensation from the exhaust change too, basically you are by-passing the rear exhaust box (which holds all the moisture).
A great little modification that saves buying a complete exhaust system - on the California the standard exhaust sounds great with the valves open.
