We’ve seen plenty of smashed Ferrari Enzos but this is the first time we’ve across images of a wrecked Bugatti Veyron. Information is sketchy, but it’s thought that a pool of water on the road caused the AWD supercar to lose traction and then spin out of control, sending it head first into a ditch on a road near Shepperton in the UK. Most of the cabin section and engine compartment look relatively undamaged, however, it’s hard to determine what internal damage to the drivetrain there is if any. Hopefully the driver got out unscathed.

According to the source, this is the first time a private customer has actually crashed a Veyron. Engineers reportedly destroyed two prototype examples during testing, which was part of the reason for the long delays during the vehicle’s development.

Looks like the crumple zones did their job:)

Meanwhile, so long as you have enough money, you can hit the streets in a car that overmatches your driving ability by leaps and bounds. This, of course, will never be an issue until some innocent driver or by-stander gets killed by the owner of a supercar who loses control. And if it happens in the United States, rest assured there will be a suit that goes after the manufacturer as well as the government for maintaining lax driving requirements.

I'll bet the guy wasn't really going that fast. It wouldn't take much to sustain that kind of damage.

People do tend to forget, whatever car you are driving, at the end of the day your car is still on a set of plastic called tires. Tires don't like slippiry things like snow or rain. Drive slow in rain.

I agree. Rain/snow are like the worst weather to drive a supercar.

I dont think he/she cares much if its in the rain,snow....im sure the RR and driver came to pick them up and left the car there for the assistant to take care of while they got on a plane to do something else.

1001 hp has to be activated, otherwise it is 500hp normally.

This is not the first Veyron to be totaled, the first was driven by Faisal Bin Hamad, the prince of Bahrain (15 years I think) who died in the accident.

Unfortinatly, in the video you can clearly see the prince in the car, so out of respect I will not post the video or larger picture.

If it was an Enzo it probably would have caught on fire and been totaled. Just goes to show what a real Supercar should do during an impact.

Was the car uglier before or after the wreck?

You would rarely total an Enzo and you don't total a 1.4 millon $ Veyron with some front end damage.

This Veyron was doing around 100mph when it spun out of control, spinning 3 times before hitting a Vauxhall Astra with a 7-month pregnant woman inside. It then smashed into trees up a 3 foot embankment.

The Bugatti driver was with a younger male passenger. The car was taken away by the same truck driver who had delivered it to the owner just a week earlier. The owner is a businessman in his 40's who runs a rental car company with his brothers.

The moral to this story is that just because you can afford to buy a high performance car does not mean you are talented and/or smart enough to drive them correctly. :)

Thanks fo the info. Very interesting. Was anyone hurt?
