Beginning in March of 1927, brave men in open cockpits braved the elements for days on end as they competed in the Mille Miglia 1000 mile drive across Italy.

In 1947, in order to fund his racing program, Enzo reluctantly produced his first road car. It had no top, no amenities whatsoever, and was a thinly disguised race car.

In 1968, ferrari introduced Air Conditioning and Power Steering to the American Market
In 1976, Ferrari introduced the first car with an automatic transmission.
On August 14, 1988, Enzo Ferrari died.
In 1987, Ferrari introduced ABS into its road cars.
In 1996, Ferrari introduced traction control
In 2009, Ferrari produced its first car with cupholders
In 2010, Ferrari announced it would no longer make manual transmissions in its new 8 cylinder line--the 458.

Do you see where I am going with this... For one day, lets eschew modern conveniences, enjoy our cars in the elements in the first annual FROSTY BALLS DRIVE.

The seasonal colors should still be in full bloom and it should be thoroughly entertaining.

The date: November 6, 2010/rain date November 7th. Departing at 10:00 after C&C.

Returning 100 miles later for a big fat irresponsible Barbecue lunch.

This will be a casual drive. Enjoying the scenery, etc.

    Here are the rules.

    For coupes:

If you have power steering, than you can't use the heater, but you can keep the windows closed.

If you have a flappy paddle gear shifter, you must keep the windows open, but can use the heater.

If you have cupholders, either factory or aftermarket, you must keep the windows open AND NO HEATER.

If you have a convertible or Targa---you must drive with the top down. Beyond that, things will suck enough for you, so take advantage of whatever amenities you have ;)

If you use your radio, bluetooth, cell phone, navigation or anything else that plugs into anything, you will be punted from the drive. :)

    So who is interested?

C'mon, seasons almost over, we don't have many of these days left!!!!

Sounds great! Love the rules. Maybe I can get the Cobra running. That would be the best fit for the criteria. It's a good time of the year for driving the old crate. Engine heat pouring into the footwell isn't quite hot enough to start my shoes smoldering.

The lawyer business must be slow because sound like you have too much idle time. Can we drive extra to use heat?

I'm in. I normally drive top down! ...with NO: PS, PB, Auto, Cup Holders, Radio, GPS, Blue Fang, etc. The Traction Control and ABS are in my right foot. :) I do have a heater that works, but I am getting older.

BTW, there is a thread about a trip to the Simeone Museum on the same day (Come See and HEAR a 917 run!).

i have a relative who was badly injured by Frosty the Snowman and the rumor floating throughout my family is that Frosty used his testicles to impart the injury....so, I will not partake in anything with Frosty and his balls in the title! I object

    Joe,
We don't need to speak in code here. We all know who that "relative" was.

Is that how you got that nasty lump on your nose and the two black eyes?

You told me you were skiing. I can't believe you took two balls to the head...MAN that must have been awkward.

Well, I guess your secret is out...word on the street is that you're the Larry Craig of the gay snowman community. In the future, Just because a snowman has a button nose and an old silk hat doesn't mean he's gay.

I know how sensitive you are regarding this. How about we rename it, the Uncomfortably cold winter rally. Less catchy, but definitely more PC ;)

When the truth is effect, deny deny deny....you know, all this talk about snow and cold reminds me of the time my Polish wife and I went ice fishing. I caught a 50 pound block of ice......and my wife drowned trying to cook it....

    um . . .

    Frosty balls???

    Tea Bags????

    Black eyes?????

    The Whip?????

GEEZUS, what goes on after I leave C&C on Saturdays?

Oh, I get it now, "The Whip" is secret code.

So, on Saturday when Alex said he was, "Going to the ballgame later" what EXACTLY did that mean???

Does Joe's, "I need a valve job" comment tell us anything special?

What the ****? time to have a manly event involving frosty balls???

And last but not least, will Alec Baldwin be there? Apparently he's got a product we need to get for JZ.

Oh, now everyone check with your significant other and see if you can get free for this event, I'm gonna go try to do that now. :D
