I am trying to configure a new Xerox multifunction copier with the "scan to email" or "fax to email" option. I do not have a local SMTP server on my office network (its basically a small office).

The xerox gives me the option to send the email to an ISP of my choice, but I need the following info (I think I cannot simply enter the typical info from an email client - at least that hasnt worked up to now):

    - SMTP Server Host Name or IP Address

    - Primary and Secondary IP Address for the DNS Server that manages the ISP email account.

Is there any way to find this info without calling my ISP directly? If I do call, is this info they would normally disclose?

Thanks in advance for any help any of you can give. I have solved so many tech problems from advice from the people here it's not even funny.

Well, depending on whether your connection is static or dynamic, there's a chance that your DNS servers might change. However, to determine what they are, on your local machine, go to the "start" menu, then "run", then type "cmd" or "command" to bring you to a command prompt.

Type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes. Your Primary/Secondary DNS servers should be listed.

To determine the SMTP server, open your email client on your desktop/laptop. If it's outlook... go to "tools" -> "accounts" -> select your acount and click "properties". Click on the "server" tab and copy the SMTP Settings address listed.

Well, my confusion is that it is asking for the IP Address for the DNS servers of my ISP account, I dont know if thats the same as the DNS address of the ISP in general.... anyway, I have three possible email servers I can use: two local ISP's prtc.net or coqui.net, or my main email address which is through yahoo small business.

Tomorrow I am going to try to input the DNS info as suggested by MikeZ to see if that works... I hope its that easy, but for some reason I doubt it...

    Thanks!

Well, the SMTP servers are easy:

    mail.coqui.net

    mail.prtc.net

As for the IP's of the DNS, I'd go with the advice below, or try this for the Coqui.net account:

    DNS Address1: 206.99.218.16
    DNS Address2: 206.99.218.10
