How would the current crop of drivers, especially the younder ones, deal with manual shifting and three pedals? Is it OK to assume that they would be able to control an F1 car given their lack of race experience with such low tech devices?

Sounds great...F1 is all about cutting edge auto technology and hybrid engines seems to where it's at right now...

They'd be just fine: They weren't born as paddle shifting F1 drivers, but started with "low tech" race cars.

    NO, that's awesome!

This hybrid engine thing really sucks. Come 2010, I'm gonna try to get to know NASCRAP. What they should, if they really have to have hybrid engines, is reduce the weight of the cars by 200kg, 25% less downforce, moveable aerodynamic devices, and turbos with an unrestricted amount of horsepower for qualy and race. Just one race engine too by the way, and you can change engines as often as you damn well please throughout the weekend. Then take off TC, and allow blocking on the track (more than 1 move). On top of that, bring back the full 6+ mile thrilling Monza with the banking, the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the old Hockenheim, the old Spa and Silverstone, race on the full 2.5 mile oval at Indy, and then we'd have a grand old racing series, even with the hybrids.

    You spelled nASScrap wrong. :p

As bad as F1 is, I certianly would want the France family to run it and turn it into a single seater form of Grand-Sham.

The manufacturers have no choice but to lead in this technology. This Government insistence on energy saving isn't going away. The manufactures probably don't mind as they see it leading to more car sales to consumers.

Mosley is the worst person for F1, he's continued to ruin this sport , he doesn't have a clue of what's going on, what's next snow tires. This is another nail in the coffin for open wheel racing and we wonder why Nascar is so popular, they don't have a moron like Mosley.

The political correctness police are here, and the guy's badge reads "Max Mo-sleez."

I know the "consensus" on global warming, but my degree is in Biochemistry. Therefore, I like facts. (A wise man once said, "you are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts." Wish Algore read that quote.)

Anyway, Max is caving to the PC police--and I read that a 747 going from Atlanta to Zurich burns more fuel than all F-1 cars in all races for a whole year.

Take a look at this speech. http://www.crichton-official.com/speech-complexity.html

Actually, Max should take a look.

Leadership is about courage in the face of emotion. Max is a sheep--and, as Gordon Gekko said, "Sheep get slaughtered."

I enjoy F1, I have for a while now, not as long as some on here but......

We all know F1 is state of the art technology, it’s the forefront where technology is tested and proven, if hybrid is on the table, get used to it, it will be tested in F1 and we can all embrace it and enjoy the spectacle it will create.

Just because F1 cars used to be stick shift and V16, that does not mean it should be that way. I am grateful that I do not drive on wooden wheels with single leaf springs, we need to move forward with technology, we need to accept that the past was awesome but is not suitable for today, or tomorrow for that matter.

    :Rant over: :D

That's how I see it... I'm very curious about the engineering side of things, the way they will implement the new engines and drivetrains... really looking forward to it!
