    Hi all

I have recently fitted a set of FF wheels to my 612. The rear tyres are rubbing on the inner arches very slightly when driving over a bump. I’m not yet sure but I think they are rubbing towards the inside.

I have 295/35/20 Michelin PS4 tyres on the rear (245/35/20 on the front).

I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest the best solution. I was considering swapping the rear tyres to 285/35/20. Or should I try adding a spacer, perhaps 10mm? I would like to try to make the FF wheel work if possible.

From my research on here I see that the FF wheel width is a 10.5 rear and 8.5 front as opposed to the 612’s 10 and 8.

I also think there is a difference in the offset of around 3 or 4mm.

    Bobby,
Those look great and a 10mm spacer in the rear with the tires you run now should do the trick.

You could easily put Hill Engineering 25 mm Type 2 spacers on her with no problems. Will definitely eliminate the rubbing and fill out the wheel wells even better. 612s easily support the 11" rear wheels from the 599 with no issues.

Thank you very much for the advice. I will order some spacers ASAP.

It looks like I’m going to have to fit new TPMS valves as well (these wheels have sensors from the FF and although they initially seemed to calibrate ok, they then failed to remain so.)

    Thanks again

Here is the link to OEM TPMS. Just type in the info and you will find what you need.

You are correct, they are different.

I have ordered some 20mm type 1 spacers from Hill Engineering. They said that is the biggest they have known on a 612.

In the meantime the rubbing sound has completely stopped even over substantial bumps and on close inspection there seems to be lots of room all round the tyre in the wheel well. I’m now wondering whether the spacers are in fact required.

I’ll have a closer look soon.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Quick update - it turned out that the FF wheels were not rubbing, it was a noise from the brakes that I had mistaken for rubbing. However, on close inspection the FF rear alloys were sitting quite tight against the bottom of the inner arch and given that I had ordered a pair of 20mm spacers from Hill Engineering I thought I may as well try them.

The car felt noticeably better to drive with the rear spacers on and so I have decided to leave them on.

Here are a couple of photos

    It does look good!
I have 20" 458 wheels on my 612. Those are a good option aswell.

Nice thing about the offsets on the 20" 114.3 mm x 5 wheels, they are close enough to make swaps practical.
