I've looked at a lot of FF for-sale ads and sometimes you see the Passenger Display lit up in the pictures and other times there seems to be just a blank spacer and a button.

If the listing (and/or original sticker) doesn't state it has Passenger Display and it is not "on" in the pictures - how can you tell if the car has that option?

For instance, look at the attached picture. Does this FF have Passenger Display?

    No.

It was an option, and rather pricey. $5000?

This photo has the button which is rectangular, to the door, which has a USB port.

The more important options IMO are the LED wheel, and full electric seat with Ventilation/Heat both. Then cruise and pano are next level.

I have the passenger display. It's cool if someone is videoing while at high speeds to get a relationship between the video and the speed but that's really about it. 75% of my passengers don't notice it until i point it out. Next time I would not take it.

    No std. cruise

Homelink is actually very important :)

Most people assume it's there, but it's an option.

If you hold down the display button for a few seconds it shuts off. It always defaults to the on position at start up

Anyone happend to ad the passenger display after delivery?

Would it be plug n play? Talking about F12 but should be similar for FF.

My guess is that the cable to connect to it will be part of the standard F12/FF wiring loom so it should simply be trim removal, connect and refit. But it could require the cars software to be updated by a dealer to say that the car has it fitted and to stream the data to the display.

A main dealer should be able to clarify this quite easily. Keep us posted if you do it.

There was another thread about this maybe 5 -6 months ago that may shed a little light. I cannot recall the exact outcome.

There was another thread, and in fact we looked into it. The wiring is there and the SW piece is easy; the "cost" is having to buy the actual unit AND the appropriate (and different) dash trim pieces (if you have CF, it's pricey). Installation also requires essentially the disassembly of the dashboard, so labor hours can add up...our eyeball estimate by the time we were done was $8-9K IIRC

I actually think it's very cool, though we did not order it on either FF or the F12. The only time I've had a 'gee, I wish we had that.." moment was when we were doing a complex multi-day rally (in the Speciale) and I had to keep reading off the odometer relatively often

There are better uses for $4K in options investment IMHO. But it is cool

Good to know, thanks for posting. It is extremely 'gee whiz cool' which is why I'm looking for it in used FFs. Was it offered on all model years?
