I can't make up my mind on whether to get a FF. My daily driver is a PTTS (debagged). I don't think I could drive the FF to work. I think it just maybe to much show for the blue collar town I work in. I just sold my weekend 'fun' car- 2015 Aston Martin Vantage V12S as it beat me up to much. After a half hour I was done driving it for the weekend, so I sold it to a dealer. It ended up costing me $33 a mile to drive. I thought I would maybe get the FF for weekend fun. When I went to check one out I also drove a 2013 Califfornia and was impressed with it. It seemed maybe to be more 'fun' then the FF, better exhaust note, and different then my PTTS. So I am not sure what to do. The F12 is still to pricey for me (I don't want to spend $300k + for a car I have a habit of not keeping long). My Porsche dealer has a 2017 911 4S coming in that is optioned to my liking. So I am just not sure what to do. I think no matter what I will still yearn for the FF but is it different enough from my PTTS ? And more fun?
    Thanks for any input.
These should be the toughest problem anyone ever has :)

I can see the FF as replacement for Panamera Turbo S, ultimate daily driver for sure, ask Rick Lederman.
Not as a weekend toy though, too refined and too practical.
How about a GT3 or even a GT3RS for weekend fun?

FF is a really an ultimate DD with the joy of a Ferrari, its really a pleasure to drive something this inspiring everyday! If you can pull it off and use it for work then go for it - I can't see myself using it as weekend toy but can see how someone might.

Surprised you think the California sounds better than the ff.

If the ff is too much for daily driving, what about a 458 for week end fun? They are comfortable enough for you to drive for hours and it would complement your Panamera.

I echo what others have said, I would not have an FF as weekend toy - too heavy and too much tailored towards being a daily. maybe a 911 Targa as weeekend toy - not sure you would be happy with a gt3 or rs given that the aston seems to have been too harsh for you?

Edit: and before I forget, nothing sounds better than a Ferrari V12, so you need to reevaluate that ...

I just switched from a 458 to a FF due to needing a back seat. I also had a GT3 prior. Here's how it would rank in the order of most fun:
    If track:
    Gt3 >458>FF
    If you don't track
    458 >GT3>FF

FF is still the best all around car though. Not even the same league as PTTS. IMHO,I would not touch a Cali. There's a lot better car at that price point.

Thank you all for the input. Not that the California sounds better but it just seemed more engaging of a sound with downshift blips.

So is the FF a 'fun' car? I know it's not 458 or GT3 fun but does it put a smile on your face when you go around tight corners or winding roads? People say "not in the same league as the PTTS". Why? More 'fun', more engaging? PTTS 0-60 is 3.5 seconds, good fit and finish. I have 25,000 miles on my 2014 and not an issue.

Yes it puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it, it is fun on a mountain road and on the autobahn. It was built more for the autobahn than the mountain road though as it is wide and heavy - having said that, ferrari has a knack for making a car seem lighter than it is and more agile than it has any right to be. The interior also feels very special

Were you in Sport mode? AUTO off? Getting some high revs? Such a better motor and sound. Add an exhaust if you want to, gets a lot more out of it.

The Porsche is boat in comparison, the speed is there, but nothing else, and with turbos. The FF feels much smaller and is far more precise to gas and to turn. The drive is immediate and fun. Especially with +3 to +5 lbs added to the tires from cold factory specs to accentuate Sport vs Comfort difference.

Certainly nothing beats a high-revving large displacement NA V12. However, the new Panamera might be worth a look. A shooting brake version of it has been confirmed. Hopefully, it will be a real shooting brake with 2-doors, and not a station wagon. If it does, I think the TTS version of it will really be something...

There is a no shields 2014 car with low miles in black for sale at 200. It's not a car that screams rich horses behind without shields.

Are you afraid people will not shop at your store? Living in fear is no fun. I hope you can do it, the FF experience leaves the Porsche in the dust.

You have to unplug the valves in the Ff it changes the whole feel sound and dynamics of the car, even the up shift clacks and downshifts more snappy/assertive

I like many here have a bunch of suoercwrs in the stable and I am a full fledged track guy/ex racer

The ff is my daily and is a hoon in my hands, I cannot believe daily how insane it is for what it is, it's truly endless excitement and that v12 makes me drool
With the valves unplugged and hard miles the car burble and pops , echoes off everything and the hum at idle is intoxicating

    Wish you could experience mine
    I say do it
    M

And ps in regards to my other cars, I have no urge to get Ito the small suoercwrs anymore given this gives me all that experience in a bigger/amazing package
    It's a game changer

You can go to my YouTube illm3 and check out a few of my ff videos, nothing great but you will prob see and hear the difference

Brian, thanks for the input. Where is this no shields car located? As far as being afraid of the public knowing I have a Ferrari, yes, they will think I make to much money so they are paying to much for my service and go to someone else, even though they come to me because I am one of the best at what I do.

    Hey George,

I had a PTT and a 991 GTS before getting the Ferrari (F12) - and I still keep both Porkies (PTT as a daily for my wife, GTS as a city daily driver for me).

Thus can only compare PTT with an F12, but in principle FF and F12 shall be quite close in terms of power, steering feel, sound and comfort.

So I'd say that if your PTT is a real daily, keep it. Its seats are better/more comfortable, sound system (Burmeister) is much better, four doors are in the real world much more convenient than two, power/torque is more than adequate, PDK is smoother than the Ferrari's version, sound insulation and lack of engine noise is better for making phone calls on the road if you need to work while driving, fuel economy/range (OK, OK, for a 550 hp car that's already irrelevant, but still) is much better.

I know many people here use the FF as a daily but based on my direct F12 vs PTT comparison - well, not an obvious choice for me.

For the weekend - completely different matter. Clearly there can be no comparison of the V8TT engine sound (or really lack of any sound at all) vs the glory of the V12, the steering lightness, the instant response, the drama, the beauty )

So go for it - but keep the PTT for now.

As for other options - Cali, 458 etc. - for me the real point of the Ferrari is the V12.

And here you do not have much choice - either FF or the F12.

unless you OFTEN have more than 2 people in the car 4 doors are a waste IMO. Panamera is a long boat, truly.

You're maybe a service provider? I know the feeling, and don't drive my FF to everything. People would not all appreciate it.

The funny thing is these cars don't scream Ferrari, they are so rare and the shape is so weird/beautiful that people tend to think it's cool. Most people like a winner with good taste who is spending and enjoying their life. It can surprise you. I was not expecting the love, I was in fear at first.

Silver 2014 w. black calipers and black wheel caps on the more boring wheels (non upgrade)

Lower MSRP car 326, hard to move and 70 days for sale already. So they will take less, it's a hard sell without LED wheel, those stock wheels, and with no shields. I would say to offer 185 and not go over 195. But even at 200, that's a 2 year old car with low miles for 130 under MSRP.

or 1 year newer in black with no shields and car play for $50,000 more ... kidding .

FWIW: My wife compares our (Daily Driver) Ferrari FF with a Cheetah, it is ready to rip the tarmac into gravel, always ready eager and just as fast as anything else (shure there are faster cars and all that, but come on here - we are talking DDs). It is just super-fun to drive, and we do love every single minute in it. That said, I fully understand that taste is different - what matters to us might turn other off and all that.

I like this silver car with the silver wheels as a low key FF, you could probably remove all the cavellinos. Tint the windows a bit to hide the red leather.

If you really want black with no shields there is a dude here who is on the East Coast with a no shields car that I bet he would sell. I think it's 2012, 25k miles.

Black cars are harder to sell, many on the market, and a no shields black car is really tough to move ... so I would do the silver or pay him something low that he can live with.

super sexy cheetah, tons of fun every time.

Brian, thanks again for the input. I love the silver exterior just don't know if I could live with the red interior. I am in NYC with the family looking at colleges for my son and see Miller Ferrrari has a 2016 Silverstone one without shields, 500 miles. Looks like it may not be options to heavy. No apple car play, unless it is now standard. I may go see it today. What's it worth?

    A few thoughts

We are on our second FF; we tried a PTT for a while, ended up getting a Cayenne TTS.

Panamera is a great car, but it's (big)(heavy) - to us, I'd put it in a category that goes against the full-size AMG Mercedes. It's a GOOD car, for us (2 kids) it was nice on highway trips, did very well....but it was a full size, 4-door sedan with some horsepower.

FF is VERY special. You can use as a DD, or a fun weekend car. It's not high-strung (eg. 458, 488, GT3, et al), it's an all-conditions, super GT. On it's own, it's phenomenal. To us, our F12 was a 2-seat, RWD, lighter FF. It won't feel as nimble as the 488, but it's leaps and bounds more agile than the PTTW, AMG's, et al. Plus the V12 is....well, enough said.

My wife will bring the FF just about anywhere, but I will usually take something else (usually my hot rodded Fiat Q-ship) to a business meeting. Like it or not, depending on your profession, it has an effect. In that regard, a Porsche is more low-key. If that's a consideration, then it's something to think about.

As for FF vs. Cali T and the "feel", the Cali T is smaller, shorter, lighter, and the (now smaller) V-8's (even the 458) engines will seem a bit more responsive than the FF (or F12) engines just given their architecture. In Sport mode and strung out, the V12 is amazing.

The PTT (as well as 991 TTS) are also probably the cars that depreciate at the speed of light. If the FF floats your boat, it's an awesome car. If you need to put any economic logic into it, get a good 2014 FF and try and get what you can for the PTT, thats really the only downside of any of these cars....

One caution, nothing worse than a Ferrari in your garage that for reasons X, Y and Z you won't drive it....

Definitely valid concern. It's better not to flaunt anything at all. IMO The best is to remove any badges or shields that provoke envy. Life is easier that way, unfortunately.

They will not be under 280 I bet. Maybe if it's a demo and they are feeling desperate. 2016, upgraded wheels, Car play, basically new. Yet to me that one looks more fancy pants expensive on the exterior, and less low key ... even if you remove the badges. Metallic charcoal and the black split 5 wheels. I also think the interior is worse than the red, oddly.

The silver car w plain silver wheels is low key cool, just remove the horses and tint the windows for 195? Hard to beat. In 3 years you're down what, maybe 50k. That's a hell of a 3 year ride. Lease it from the private companies and save the tax.
