Interesting article but I think a drive in the snow isnt really going to give a fair impressions of dynamics on the road. Having said that it certainly sounds very good on snow!
It will be interesting to hear about it on tarmac, of course it's faster than the 599 around a track so that aspect of the dynamics is obviously sound. I wonder if it will be similar to the 612 characteristics
That's the exact time the 599 and 360CS lap Fiorano in. It's also faster than an F430 and 16M. The 458 does it in 1:25 dead. We have yet to find out how far under that time it will do. edit: the 612 does it in 1:30.5
I'm sure they say it weighs what the 612 does. I'm certain though, the FF weighs a good deal more than the 612. Ferrari is always "optimistic" with its weight claims and even more so as of late.
Accordingly the FF is 58lbs heavier than the 612 at 3938lbs. That makes it nearly 1000lbs lighter than the Conti SS, 400lbs lighter than the Aston Martin Rapide, 700lbs lighter than the Panamera Turbo, and 1500lbs lighter than the Rolls Royce Ghost.
Are you stating dry weight for the 612? As I have seen at least one US being weighed and tipping the scales at over 4100#.
Weight figures are always European spec. US cars (no matter the model/make) are always heavier, not because of dietary considerations but because the DOT demands more bells and whistles
Who put the Ferrari horse on the BMW Z coupe? I really do not care how this thing drives. I am simply at a complete loss for words as to how abysmal this car looks. It is incomprehensible to me that Ferrari could make such an awful looking car. I have no doubt it drives great, sounds great, handles great, etc. My god...my eyes.....MY EYES.....unreal. I have been on board with pretty much everything Ferrari has built since the 512, even the california so many *****ed about, but this...this is just horrid. The first time i saw this thing I actually thought someone was effing with me, and sending me photshop pics. Then i saw that it was real from the pics at the Geneva auto show. My goodness..
Great, now that you have expressed your dislike, which is perfectly OK, no further trips to the FF forum are necessary, correct? Would be a waste of your time. Taz Terry Phillips
Yes, please. There is no need to stick around. I respect your opinion but you can only go downhill from here as it is obviously very strong
Seriously... why do people torture themselves? BTW: I'm thinking this car is kinda cool. I never was a big fan of the 612 looks but this one has some aggressive styling combined with some really good performance numbers and practicality. Would I buy one? No. But, if I had a family I'd seriously consider it. And I'm serious when I say I wish the 458 had the rear view of this car. The tail light structure and sheet metal is really well done.
Two weeks ago I would have agreed with you. For me, the Geneva pictures were nothing short of an eyeopener. Sure, this car will not be to anyones liking, but it oozes charisma. This one will look spectacular in everyday traffic.
use the chassis and drive line, talk to the Special Projects people and have Touring or Zagato build you a nice body....
I didn't like it at all when I first saw it, but it's definitely growing on me. I saw the premier in Maranello, and I'm a believer. And the more I look at different pictures of it, I think it looks better in white than in red.
