Can anyone recommend a particular baby seat that fits the FF? i know it has isofix but curious if anyone has come across a brand/model that is particular easier/better to use than the usual ones. My FF arrives tomorrow.

    thanks in advance.

I'm using maxi cosi seats. One rear facing (pebbl) one front facing (think its a priori). Put a covering on your rear seats to protect the leather. I use bath towels that I've selected to colour code to my interior.

I've also had other folks kids in the car in their seats and I haven't found something that hasn't fitted yet...

I ended up running the Maxi Cosi Tobi for our 22 month old boy. I tested a ton at the store and actually bought two seats and liked the Tobi best after using them both. The other seat I got I threw in the front of the R8. The Tobi sits my son up higher and he loves being able to see out the window. It is not ISOFIX and I actually prefer that in the FF as its a pain to secure the ISOFIX in the car being so narrow between the exterior and the tunnel. The strap system in the Tobi actually secures the seat tighter than the two other seats I ran with the ISOFIX.

For a rear facing baby I think that the pebble is the way to go. Its one of the more compact units and you can get the clip in base. I think the annoying point will be for the kids that are too big for the pebble seats but too small to ride facing forwards in a seat like the Tobi.

I a m 6'2'' and its really easy for me to get him back there and strapped in without any stress. My phone is dead so I cannot post photos but I will once I am back online!

Here are the two seats I bought. You can see the Tobi with seat belt installation is much taller than the Römer which has isofix.

sunshine radian is prob the most narrow seat u can find - I used one in my 612 - cant believe I forgot to mention it before -

RadianRXT Car Seats, Convertible Booster Car Seat | Diono

car seats def work better than boosters in the rear - barely any room for even a kid to get there hand in using the car belts

I like the expandability of that seat. I haven't been able to find one here yet as I've looked before. We will be in California in March I may try to grab one.

fwiw ive spent hours upon hours agonizing over car seats - we rode around in the back with no safety seats as kids - the cars today are so much safer, I wonder what a booster will actually do in a real crash....not saying I really want to find out but you get my point!

thanks for all the insight. since my child is a almost a week old and seems my choices are limited; maxi cosi or recaro. i have a terrible issue with the isofix mount for the maxi-cosi pebble currently in our SUV - it rattles over every single bump whilst driving - drives me insane

Just to clarify / I'm using the tobi for my 3yo snd the pebble for my 11 month old.
Neither with isofix. It feels more secure to me with proper belts holding the seats in - isofix isn't there to crate strength in a crash - more to make installation idiot proof.

I drive my FF as a daily driver and drop the kids at nursery in it, and I find it no hassle. However I was doing the run in a 70s 911 until child no2 started nursery a couple of months back so it's bound to feel simple in comparison.

I've fitted seat back protectors as well to prevent little feet marking the seat backs - well worth it.

How long does it take you to mount the pebble with the belt. I'll be in this situation in July:). Since my son now is on the passenger side I'd like to keep him there. Tonight I'll go out and test the pebble without the isofix behind my seat and see how it fits.

As a rear facing car seat I think you'd hate that in the FF. As you haul the new kid around more you'll see that you really don't want to take he baby in and out of the seat rather you'll want to take the seat with the baby in it in and out of the car. Especially when the fixed read seat you'll need to climb in the opposite side and install the baby over the tunnel. With the pebble, the kid will sleep in that thing while you eat out, go from being in the pebble and in the car to still in the pebble but clipped on the stroller and back in the car and home and never even wake up.

I was in the baby store the other day and a guy was telling his wife (pregnant) he would rather save 40€ and get the seat that is cheaper that they'll take the newborn in and out of each time they get in and out of the car. I joked to my wife that if she listens to him with ideas like this the poor baby won't have a dad in its life for long.

Yeah pebble won't be fitting behind me. I just tested it and my knees are in the dash. Luckily my wife is short so pebble will be behind her and the 2yo will switch to riding behind me.

Also for reference the passenger seat goes slide further forward in "entry mode" than the drivers seat so it's easier to get the pebble in the passenger side vs the drivers....

Would you be so kind as to post a link to the seat back protectors you've used? Yesterday we forgot to keep the passenger seat out of my sons range of terror and destruction.... this morning I found salt all over the seat back.

In the attached photo he looks innocent enough but seconds later his klepto left hand snatched my wallet out of the center consol quietly emptying its contents into cracks and crevices in, under and next to his seat.

    Cute kid!

In a crash a booster helps line the kid up properly for the seat belts and other safety systems. They are designed for people who are at least 4'11", probably 90lbs and above (sorry for our metric friends I don't know what that works out in meters and kg)

I would recommend adhering to all the safety recommendations when it comes to kids and cars.

I just got the quinny zap xtra2 for the FF. It accepts pebble seat. Best of all it folds up perfectly so that it can sit on top of the fuel cell perfectly under the leather 'lid'. It is the same depth as the cell and only takes up 2/3 of the width at that point.

Once the baby is older you can put the fabric seat back in the quinny and it still folds up to the same size and still leaves room next to it on top of the fuel cell for another bag and luggage on the main floor stacked two high.

In this photo you can see the wheels of the quinny sticking out! We even had enough room on the way home from our trip to stop for groceries.
