Planning a trip to Spain via a ferry from Plymounth to Santander with a bunch of friends in Ferraris and Porsches, including CGT etc. Anyone with experience of the ferry crossing? Safe for the cars?

    Hi ,
I made the same trip last year , when i bought my Testarossa and brought it to Portugal.
No problem on the ferry , nice people helping with parking the car , getting in and out of the ferry.
    Nice boat , comfortable.

Are you planing to drive to Portugal for the historic meeting in the Algarve ?

    All the best

I drove to down to Barcelona for a few days and over Lisbon a couple of years back, came back upto Bilbao to catch ferry back to Portsmouth, ferry service was great , no probs with P&O, but one thing to bear in mind is the crossing itself our trip was that bad we had to slow down to reduce the swaying added 4 hours to the journey, just remember to take the motion sickness pills before you leave, as it was an 30 hour trip if I remember correctly.

Even a couple of staff were bad on this trip so maybe it was a one off, although I was told by the dolfin spotter on the trip that the reason is because of an underwater cliff ( also the reason why he is stationed on the crossings to spot the dolfins, as they feed on the crustations which are swept up off the underwater cliff due to the motion of the water). so I found out after watching his demonstration to try and fill in some time.

Apart from the rough seas, the crossing was guite good, but would not do it again, I would rather drive through france again.

When I drove back up from Lisbon to Bilbao I drove up with the 2 Williams F1 trucks which I found on the motorway, about 20 miles after entering spain, and remeber thinking as my wife was being sick, if i had followed them trucks back to uk I would be near home now.

Good luck but dont envy the crossing.

I've done the crossing twice, once smooth, once rough and we were delayed departing becaue of rough seas in the Bay of Biscay. The Bay of Biscay is notorious when it's bad weather.

No problems with the car, the crew are used to handling all sorts of exotics.

I travelled alone and found the entertainment on board dull, but the staff do try their best.
