    Hi everyone,

    A friend of mine just bought his first Ferrari and he already wants to try out an aftermarket ECU tune . He doesn't spend too much time online, so he asked me if I could help. I'm very familiar with Mercedes and BMW tuners, but do not know much about the Ferrari aftermarket world. Can you guys please give me a list of Ferrary Tuners? Usually in every segment, there will be 3 groups of companies: very expensive, mid-range companies, and the lower-level tuners. I'd like to get a few names in each category:

    Top-Level (most expensive)
    =====================
    1)
    2)
    3)

    Mid-Range Tuners
    ==============
    1)
    2)
    3)

    Lower-level Tuners
    ===============
    1)
    2)
    3)

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Note: please excuse my username. I picked it long ago only to match my username on all the Mercedes forums so that people can look me up if need to. I love ALL high performance cars.

    Only ones off the top of my head are Novitech and Hamann.

    If you want to try an ECU tune, try EVOMs. (Evolution Motorsports)

    Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it. Is EVOMs the same as EVOMSit from Fabspeed? Are they a direct tuner or do they use someone else for their tunes? Would you rate them as conservative or aggressive with their tunes?

    Go to exoticsonroad.com.

    Click Ferrari on the left panel.

    At the bottom of that list it says Tuners.

    Look at the pictures and do some research.

    That site has every car and tuner you can think of and many you haven't heard of.

    What kind of tuning? {street, high performance street, track, fun race, serious race}
    What kind of budget? {$10K, $50K, $100K, more}
    What is being tuned? {Engine, transmission, suspension, interrior, aerodynamics}

    It makes a BIG difference if one is tuning for a race track with an unlimited budget, or tuning for the street with a modest budget.

    It's a Ferrari... other than maybe an exhaust system, why does he want to "tune" it?

    Sorry - the word "tuner" conjures up a mental image of a 5-year-old Civic with the Red Baron's 3rd wing, a Times Square worth of neon lights under the rocker panels, and a muffler built out of one of the main guns of the battleship Missouri.

    IMHO tunning a ferrari is just like ****ting in the Ferrari Engineer's diplomas

    Why does anyone think that they can make a better car than the factory?

    because it can be done ...if no one thought that they could improve on the horse then we would not have cars .

    the factory does it their way which is not always the best just look at the new FF

    An aftermarket EMS/ECU is not going to boost a stock engines output too what I think he is thinking it will, maybe a few hp/ftlb's at most but it does let you fine tune all the parameters. Simply put he does not need one on a stock engine unless he is setting a basis for future forced induction ie turbo/supercharger.

    Also an aftermarket ecu is not something one with no knowledge or experience should tinker with, BOOM!!!! Just my two pennys worth.

    The people who tune their Fcars don't tune them for racing, the tune them so they can have a f**king fast, cool Ferrari.

    So it's not that they are making the car better than the factory can, they are just making it more to their liking. And there is nothing wrong with that.

    He just wants a little extra power over factory. He is not a racer, but do go to a road course about once a year, so he wants to give his Ferrari a little bit of an edge over stock.

    I'm assuming the factory cats are much too restrictive in order to comply with CA emission standards. He looked into replacing them with HJS 200 cell cats and maybe add a nice ECU tune to go with it. I'm guessing he can get another 30 whp or so from both of those items, which is a nice upgrade.
