Thanks, see, no F40 sale posted there..?? Poor BiTurbos....I know of one sitting in a field here.....with wildflowers.
thanks it what i was looking for. strange for F40 and 308 vetrocina not sold, some Ferrari too... well, not really a buyer just curious to see year by year the evolution and alos the future of Ferrari.
A case of 'pearls before swine'.....I'm afraid.....I enjoyed his participation as well.. Gstaad is close to some ski slope areas? How is the snow this year? What color was the glass 308GTB...any pics?
I always wondered how long it would last. He brought a distinct flavor and knowledge to this forum, legitimizing some discussions, and settling others. Its a shame to have driven him away. I can only hope that he may forgive and forget, and try it again. But then again, someone else will drive an errant stake as well. For some it is too easy to go negative. I'm amazed at how much napolis has taken and still graces us with his input. I spent some time with Marcel showing him some vintage photos I had of Scuderia Bear from the 60's. He knew every single car upon sight, with serial numbers and present whereabouts. Truelly a profound knowledge base running around his head. I will miss his input. cheers and happy holidays, Can't we all just get along? ken
Wouldn't one expect to be at a peak in the car market when desireable models (e.g. 250, F40) are no sales? Also, what's up with Maserati's being included at Gstaad this year? BiTurbos being sold next to Ferrari 250GT's?! Madness. Different clientels, to be certain.
Does anyone know if that was the same 750 Monza for sale at the Bonham auction at Monterey back around August?

Here's a gallery shot by Dirk de Jager: http://www.*************/gallery/119513/1095/1.html The 151/3 sure looks good from a distance. The auction description says another 151/3 is being made from the original body, i'm surprized it survives.
I quoted you because your question is so obvious, but if more people here could take some time and study the info that is in here http://www.***************.com/frame.php?file=event_item.php&rid=118 all your questions will be answered.......
Yes it struck me as strange as well, I could understand the big dollar classic racing Maserati's but they are a long way from the Biturbo era. However looking at the dearth of decent classics available at any one point to the major auction companies, what else can they fill the auction with. I would guess that we will never see another GTO/ Testa Rossa sold at auction ever again because nobody wants to take the risk of a no-sale or a difficult situation so they sell them privately. The auction companies then struggle to get interesting and valueable cars and so they accept just about anything. just my interpretation timmmy
I disagree. At least for the Gstaad sale. It has never been about selling interesting and valuable cars only. Wether this was by choice or if they were forced by the lack of supply, I think it has made for very nice auctions. Not everybody can afford a seven figure Ferrari and Bonham's has given those not so fortunate the opportunity to buy a nicely presented Ferrari on a budget. The people that bought the Biturbos here have a very good Christmas and I don't think it affects the appeal of the auction negatively. It's of course debatable if any car should be sold/bought at an auction, but that's a whole different discussion.
Agreed, a Mistral Spyder or a 3500 GTI Spider are no way the lesser gods to contemporary Ferraris. And btw, last year's auction saw a Harley Davidson under the hammer...so no reasons for complaints now.
actually only one of the 2 Biturbos was allowed in the main garage. We did not even see the other one...
I've actually got nothing against the much maligned BiTurbo, but just consider it a mistake to let two disposable Maseratis be sold the very first time that the Gstaad auction allowed more than just Ferraris to be on sale. What's next, the Chrysler TC by Maserati?!
I have nothing against Maserati Biturbo's at all, and I apologize if that is how it sounded, what I did think was ALL auction companies need to be carefull with how they market themselves in both A - what they accept for sale B - how they sell it. If they want the Gstaad sale to be the Ferrari sale and a very upmarket sale at that, how do they then include a 1980's Maserati, I would think, IMHO Racing Maserati's (Great) Any pre 1970's Ferrari (Great) 1970's onwards Ferrari (selected, best of the best) 1970's - 1980's Maserati's (not my thing) Timmmmmmmmmy (Keepin it real since 1968)
