For which car? Ferrari red has changed quite a bit since the 1950's.

F40's are usually Rosso Corsa Fer 300/12 (Glasurit)
308's all the way to the 355's had
    Rosso Chiaro
    Rosso Dino
    Rosso Rubino
    Rosso Corsa
    Rosso metallico

These colors even changed model to model even though it went by the same name. Glidden, Glasurit and PPG have all been a source for Ferrari factory paint.

BTW most Ferraris weren't red when they left the factory.

    Hey Jay,

I'd like to read your thoughts on this statement:

"BTW most Ferraris weren't red when they left the factory".

Is that to suggest that most Ferraris were painted red after purchase?

You raise a very interesting question.

    Thank you, Chris.

Jay is actually very correct on this. Many cars were later painted red back in the day. As a matter of fact, yellow was also very popular recently, many yellow dinos, and the like when painted have changed color. As for colors my 86TR is called Corso Rosso, but the paint code is 300/6. Paint there are also other rosso corso colors with different paint codes. When I bought touch up paint this summer it wasnt easy because of the many different codes, and they make it fresh for you also. Its not insotck at the dealer.

On the newer cars, ie 355 + the paint is either Glasurit or PPG.

Rosso Corsa red - Glasurit 300/12 DS
Rosso Corsa red - PPG 322

    Barchetta red - Glasurit 312/DS
    " "- PPG 320

Rosso Fiorano Red - PPG 321

Most "red" Ferraris a Rosso Corsa...
    Hope this helps you..

Look at all the original Ferrari brochures and factory photos from the 50's until the mid 70's. The only red Ferraris were the race cars. The road cars were blue, silver, yellow, even brown and orange. My own GT4 was originally Metallic brown, then someone painted it red, then yellow (the color it is now). I think most people painted their Ferraris red because of Magnum P.I. There is a reason they call it "resale red". It's gotten to the point where a Ferrari that isn't red is less money then one that is red with tan interior (Generally speaking). Sad really because the blue's and silver's that Ferrari had in the 60's and 70's were great. Even the red was deeper and darker.

Mick, this is helpful, but I'm somewhat confused again. There are about eight different variants under Rosso Corsa. If I've got a 1995 355B, which one do I focus on?

    Thx.

interesting...isn't the color of Modena yellow.

Red was the color of Italy's racing teams.

I guess you need to find and focus on the paint decal that should be in your car somewhere. I'm not sure where to find it in a 355, but there should be a PPG (paint manufacturer, like Glidden Salchi and Glasurit)sticker that shows the paint code. I agree the list I posted is not very helpful in matching a name/number to a particular shade of Rosso Corsa.

Submit your VIN and you should be able to get the build sheet I think. (Look guys don'e shoot me if I am wrong) This is how I traced the codes for my RR.

I realize this initial posing is quite old, but instead of posting a new thread, I hoped someone might be able be able give me some suggestions.

I am trying to match a color for a bbr F430 1/18 Scale - HESP 005 Ferrari Rosso Fiorano Metallic Red - Code: 321 Zero Paints 1007. When I went to open the passenger door, a minute piece of paint came off. I have found two dealers that have the Zero paint. The first dealer spot model everything is on back order for minimum 6 months, and then he might not get it. The other is hiroboy.com, I am not sure if he sells a single bottle. But I did ask.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Rosso Fiorano is PPG 75249 B/C, which any competent paint shop can mix in a small batch for you. Or any of the big touch-up paint outlets online should be able to provide it.

After months of trying to match this F430 1/18 Scale - HESP 005 Ferrari Rosso Fiorano Metallic Red and having a small amount mixed at a local paint shop, it still does not match the Metallic Red of the bbr model. It's just to dark. The location of the repair is the door handle. I tried what was recommended. But it does not match. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ron- What that tells you is the model is not actually a Ferrari color, most likely, and BBR just got it as close as they could.
