I recently purchased a Ferrari "Indianapolis II" pen from an online merchant. The pen is supposedly a Ferrari officially licensed product and the box does contain the official sticker, however it states on the box beside the sticker that it was made in China. The pen I received however does not match the online photos of this pen.

My question is: Does this pen come in two different models. The pen I received is a twist open pen whereas the online photos I have seen depict the pen with a cap. Also, the clip on the pen I received does not have the black matting behind the SF sheild.

Does anyone have this pen? Did I receive an actual officially licensed product or simply a cheap imitation? Thanks.

No idea... but my 328 GTS S/N 61515 is very much real - Bic takes care of the rest

All Ferrari stuff is licensed. No surprise It's made in China. Ferrari makes cars so everything else is just branding.....

    Thank you for the reply.

Here is a pic of the pen(sorry for the poor quality). As I said, this pen does not match the picture of the pen that I have seen online. This pen is a twist open whereas the online pictures depicted a cap on the pen. Also, the clip on this pen, which is hard to tell from my picture, does not contain a black border around the SF sheild.

Is this pen authentic or simply a cheap knockoff? Thanks

A Timex does a great job of informing you of the time also, but I prefer something a little more interesting.

BTW, you can actually get a Bic pen to work for more than 15 minutes when doing serious writing? I can't...

This is the comparison pic, i.e what was in the ad?

I'm leaning towards fake especially if the vendor wasn't a dealer or a known retailer of car/motorsports items.

For your sake, hope I'm wrong though.

Yes, that is the online pic I was referring to. Thanks for posting it.

The retailer I purchased the pen from claims to be an official dealer. Did they produce more than one version of this pen?

Dealer for the pen/accessory line or dealer for the car line? The latter should be easy to confirm.

I'm not sure if other versions, none found on a guick Google search. Still, they should not swap one version for the other without your ok.

Have you posed the question(s) to the vendor?

It is NOT an official Ferrari car dealer. I should have been clear on that point earlier.

No, I have not spoken to the seller yet but I have a good idea of what he'll say. LOL And I agree, a substitution should not have been made without my consent.

Thanks for your help Steve(4re Nut), I appreciate it.

I am interested to hear what Boardwalk Boutique has to say. I hope he/she replies.

Yeah, I hear you...one of the drawbacks of online purchasing.

Virtually all of my shopping is thru Amazon b/c I understand they are heavy in the customer's favor even with 3rd party vendors but fortunately I haven't had to test the policy...yet.

+1; hopefully Jessie is liberal with a FChat discount! :D

Sorry for not responding sooner guys, I was trying to see if I had one in stock to compare to.

I would say for sure it is not the same pen. Did the one you received come in a tin (most are tins right now) or a box that matched the image?

The only thing is that based on my inventory here, Ferrari will make similar looking items, so it is possible that it is an authentic pen, just not the one you wanted.

All of the pens that I have include a card with an international guarantee, and the card and case say artena. The foam in the case is very dense and has a cut out which the pen fits perfectly in. Check and see if it has artena on it.

    Hopefully this helps!

    -Jessie

PS Don't worry about discounts, I'm working on something just for Fchat-ers!

Jessie, thank you for the info.

The pen did come in a tin(similar to the one shown in a previous pic here) which was enclosed in a cardboard sleeve. Also, the tin case did have "artena" printed on it and contained an "officially licensed" Ferrari product sticker. So, maybe the pen is indeed an official product, although it is not what was depicted in the vendor's pic and I am less than happy with the pen I received.

Thanks again Jessie. I'll consider Boardwalk for future purchases.

I am sorry to hear that it isn't what you had ordered, but it does sound as though it is authentic, which is better news than it being a fake! Hopefully the seller will work with you to get you the correct pen!
