Where can I get a key blank for my 308? I did get one 15 years ago and it worked, for 15 years, now it's jiggle and hope it turns, so I'm using the original which works fine, just want a spare. Thanks in advance!

I recently bought a Neiman Key blank reproduction from i-Velocita off of eBay (he's a fellow FChatter that bought the tooling from Piezo). Quality is very good. I haven't had it cut yet....

They're both standard Italian blanks (possibly even the same) - original blanks are all but unobtainable but may have been replicated - try looking for previous threads

The blank you want is an iLco - X12- RE61F made in USA. Any good locksmith will have these. As I remember it is a John Deere blank. It won’t cost you more than a couple bucks.

I have the original keys for my car, but I didn't want to risk losing or breaking them (pretty much impossible to find keys that say "Dino" on them anymore). So I bought these blanks and had a local locksmith cut them for me. I use these for my daily use. If I show the car, I'll bring along the original keys.

I bought my 308 blanks off of eBay and they are good quality. Interestingly, when I brought the to the locksmith to have them cut, he looked up the keys in a reference book and found the blanks. The price difference was not very much, but it does mean that they are available on order, at least in Europe.

There is a new self-service automated CNC-controlled key cutting machine at my local Home Depot building supply store. You insert your key, it is digitally scanned, and an exact reproduction is produced.

I tried it on my 308's ignition key hoping that these new machines cut both the profile contours and ridges on a key blank.

    It did not work.

Did you have to supply the blank? It's probably meant to cut house keys, but you'd think it should be able to cut anything.

No. You just insert your key into the reader and the machine does the rest.

Apparently, the machine checks to see if it has blanks with an appropriate profile and proceeds from there. Since it failed the 308 ignition key, it must be that it does not cut the slots (the "profile contours") on the sides of the key only the ridges like old fashioned analog key cutting machines do.

Yeah, it must be that the machine is only loaded with plain house key blanks.

I would highly recommend keys4classics in Australia. I ordered a spare key for a diablo as a first order and was very satisfied, than ordered some more for a Ferrari later.
They work from a good picture of your actual key and send it ready to use.

    Top notch service.

You are right. But I was living in a remote area where locksmiths were not very close and ordering from my chair was a nice alternative.
Especially for a Lambo key in my area.

Probably a Minute Key machine; my daughter used to work for them.
And yes, the machine only cuts the profile. It does have a fairly sophisticated sensor array to identify the proper blank to use, but its small size limits the number and variety of blanks it can offer.
Even on house keys the machines are hit or miss. Our daughter gave us a number of spares for our home and IIRC about 20% of them were duds. I think she said company-wide bad keys ran 10 - 15%.

+1 to what @godabitibi states, https://www.keys4classics.com/ in Australia was outstanding for me. It's been a few years, but if I recall correctly, all I did was provide them with numbers on the ignition and door keys, paid them... and the keys (pictured here) arrived in fairly short order and worked flawlessly. As usual, YMMV, especially if you have a replacement ignition switch or door tumbler. Not Neiman, but the door key says Italy.

I also purchased the Neiman repro's off eBay... still sitting on my drawer uncut, looks to be a fine product. Only difference I noticed from my original keys, they say "GERMANY", not "Made in Germany"

Ilco, as shown also Taylor makes our ignition keys (early cars)
Door keys will be some generic brand...

OEM is expensive just by the brand.

The folding key came in the 328, although in my years of ownership I've never brokenn one.

Now the lock OTOH, they wear, and it may come a time for profesional attention by a Safe and Lock company.

When your trusty key locks up it's wear of the key itself (look for sharp teeth) or the lock "house top" pins that nest into the key, the bores they ride in can also wear.
I once had a locksmith just "Set the pins deeper" across the board with taller house top pins.
