We can try. He machines it out. Is the light switch and parts still available? If not, I have to rebuild it from pirates parts. See my answers on the process in earlier posts in this thread. PM me for details mailing addresses etc. thank you.
I have all the replacement parts already. My problem is the battery casings are still in there. Seeing this thread, got me tinkering with it again. I’m going to check with a friend of mine about squaring it up in his Bridgeport and slowly running a drill and or end mill down it. I’ll be in touch if I still need help. Thanks for the replies !!!!! Dominic
ok good luck. I convert them to LEDs and always use eveready ultimate lithium cells. Don’t use Duracells. They leak. The switch can be tricky too.
It doesn’t matter what batteries you use. These are ornamental (not utility) Maglites. Any batteries should not be left in these units. If you show your car you might want to put batteries in the Maglite to show off you Maglite. Otherwise any battery is ok.
You said it. They are “ornamental” . That’s why there is the prevalent problem we are addressing. Most folks inadvertently or otherwise leave batteries in them as it is supposed to be a flashlight. At any rate, you get a leak if certain types of batteries are used. Just a suggestion. YMMV. Of course any battery will work. Good luck with your sale.
What I am trying to say is that the stuck batteries have been left in the cylinders since the Maglites inception. I have seen all brands. I have utility Maglites that have the same 10 year old Duracell batteries in them that have not leaked. When I restore a Maglite I tell the customer not to leave any battery in the cylinder as I have seen that they all eventually leak, maybe Duracell most likely.
Oh, my eyes are not as good as they used to be. I thought you said fleshlight. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Are you still offering this service for the Mini Maglite Flashlights? I bought a 599 and the flashlight is seized and cannot be opened. I am new to Ferrari Chat and cannot PM yet. Seems like you have to have a minimum number of posts to have that activated. Can you send me a PM? Thank you,
Hi, yes I am. In short you would send me the maglite. Upon evaluation I would see what needs to be done and quote you a price. If for some reason you do not want to do the project I will send it back to you. I’ll pay return shipping. I do have a maglite, unused in perfect condition that is the first edition, not the later maglite issued by Ferrari. It comes in a maglite box. $699.00.
I think this request was directed to me (Snapshift) as my post was quoted in the the above question. Yes I can get them opened .Send a few pics by PM me and I'll make some recommendations. It usually runs about 100 plus parts. I keep you posted on progress and return it after receiving payment is generally how I can do it. PM sent
I have now developed my own machine tools and a system to salvage the hopelessly corroded Maglites and do not require sending them out to an independent machine shop. I am working on a system to repair dents scratches and toolmarks and refinishing them. If you desire these services, please PM me for details. Rule number one, please don't try this yourself and introduce tool marks scratches tooth marks etc. Very difficult to remove these marks. If the exterior is clean and unblemished, I can get it open without any marks on it and restore it to original condition.
Sorry I missed this post from a year or so back. Yes I can and still repair them. I do it in house now. If you are still in need PM me Sorry I missed this.
Hello, No problem at all. I drilled it out myself and have passed the flashlight on to someone that was looking for one. All good now !!! Thank You, Dominic
Guys, just use AA Energizer lithium batteries, they will not leak even when they go flat. I used them in my Ferrari flashlight (which I personally converted to an LED, it is awesome now); installed in 2020 when I got the car, still going strong after 3 winters in cold New England, obviously without using it.
Snapshift, Sorry… new to this forum so cannot PM. Just got my first Ferrari (F430) last month and it came with a non-working flashlight with completely seized end-cap. Clearly someone previously tried opening so scratched the exterior somewhat, but I would still be interested if you could help get functional. Can you please PM me mailing info? Thanks!
I had Snapshift restore my flashlight recently and he did an exceptional job. He has the tools to remove the cap and is meticulous in his work. He will advise what can and cannot be achieved and returned my flashlight exceeding my expectations.
