What are all your thoughts and opinions about the current value of US-spec F50's? I know there are many factors that will stratify the pricing. But lets say the car is all up to date on service (bladders etc.) and is equip with all original equipment. Please give your best approximation of what you would pay for a 3-digit mileage car (say 900 miles) and also a price for a mid 4-digit mileage car (say 5000 miles). Thanks

Strong into the sevens, as Bennie's car showed us.......

Gonna be hard to find 'low miles' at this point and it may actually be more trouble than a lightly driven one....

Here is more info on Benny's car - Agree with Big Tex you are better off looking for one that has some miles on it - Benny's had just over 5K and brought $750K

Odd looking engine number, should be a 5 digit number beginning with 4 ?

The Gooding co. auction site shows lot 56 F50 sold for 814,000. Was that including buyers commission? What did the hammer actually drop at?

    Hammered at $740,000 plus 10% buyer's fee = $814,000.

That is such a crazy spread with the seller getting $666,000 and the buyer paying 814,000. What is the accurate value??? Would you feel that 814,000 was high for this car and the 740,000 was more along the lines of accurate market value?

My feelings are that the market price is what someone is willing to pay. Therefore, the market price for this particular car was a little over $800,000.

F50s are so rare - and each is unique - that there really is no 'market price', per se. There is a broad price range affected by mileage, ownership history, service history, outstanding maintenance issues, cosmetic condition and many, many more factors.

Your best bet is to thoroughly investigate any examples and make according offers. Or, seek the advice of an expert and pay for their knowledge and contacts. Joe Sackey, of course, comes to mind in this regard. Good luck and happy hunting!

Please PM me for a price, as the current owner does not want the car "shopped around".

Without examining the provenance & current condition of a specific cars, I would say USA F50s fall somewhere between $700 and $800k. Of course an exceptional car could be more, and one with needs could be less.

Andrew- What was that about Serial Number? Sounds about right to me. Ferrari was using even and odd serial numbers after about SN 75000. A 40,000 era SN was quite a while ago in the 1980s.

I agree with Joe's assessment. Interesting thing happened this weekend. I was informed that my F50 - only recently sold - is now for sale. I wonder what the story is?

The spread is nuts but the market value is hammer plus comm. That's what the new owner paid. On high buck cars and prominent sellers (the estate in this case) the seller's comm is usually significantly discounted, so the spread from seller to buyer is probably not that large.

As to accurate market value, in the case of rarely sold cars like F50's the market IS what the last buyer paid. That is the most accurate assessment. F50's are not like gold coins - plentiful and identical in market value. Each is unique with its own story and situation and each is worth what the next owner is willing to pay.

Sorry to call BS on this Joe but with F50's the last one sold is the current market and the next one sold will move the market. There is no number or range. Now common or garden variety F40's, of which there are close to 1,300 around, are a different story. There are always a few to compare on the global market. :)

Well, the seller is dead so complaints will be muted.......but an auction always shows instant "market" at the hammer.

So a privately sold F50 with 5K miles is 'strong into the sevens"....

Is that one that was saved from the Cali fire still on the market, with all the wierd do dads on it???

It very well sounds like it. Two prominent factors - the mileage and the Tubi headers/exhaust. Tubi only made a couple of complete exhaust systems for the F50 and my car had one of them. It's unlikely that two cars would be for sale with the same miles and same exhaust system within a 12 month period. If I were a betting man I would say that it's my old car. :)

There was a time when I enjoyed driving the "older generation" cars. All the "quirks" defined them and made them unique. However, over time those quirks grew old for me and I found myself drawn to the newer supercars. I decided it was time for a change and ultimately sold everything "old" and replaced them with everything "new." :)
