Ferrari didn't make enough of them!!! OR they weren't made inexpensive enough for us all to have one... :)

Some of the switchgear and console components become "sticky" over time much like the 355 did...can create a gooey mess.

    You've mentioned the dash.

Adjustable suspension faults are known to arise, no pun intended.

Actually, the car is quite strong with very few mechanical issues....very solid supercar.

I replaced every single sticky switchgear part etc about 3 years ago. A couple of parts are already worse than before. Pathetic.

The front main engine seal was subject to a recall and is a very common problem.

To be honest, they are a very reliable car indeed. Perhaps the worst thing about them is the poor standard of workmanship from the "experts" at the authorised dealer here.

Parts are also starting to become hard to get for them.

Biggest problem is lack of use. Seal dry out and then you get leaks. Had to replace a clutch shortly after buying due to a small oil leak. Car had not seen much, if any use for several years before I acquired it.

Also the cooling system can act up and the rear shocks will eventually start to leak and need replacing.

F50 cooling system is quite complex. All are now over 10 years old and rubber bits and valves can start to fail, especially if not used.

No. Hard but not harsh. In line with a CS or Scuderia.

The F50 also comes with a luggage set. One small carry bag that fits in the front luggage tray and a suit bag that slides into a slot on the front.

He said TWO bags. A carry bag and suit bag.

Point is, Scott Mac was wrong when he said "No luggage space"

    I concede.
Space for my toothbrush, sport coat and credit card is an acceptable tradeoff for the 12 cylinder orchestra!
    :)

FWIW, where is the luggage tray?

It is a slot on the front hood. The thin suit bag slides right in.

Intake plentium bases warp pretty bad and allow unfiltered air to be ingested.

Air filter fitment leaves a great amount to be desired and requires a re-work.

Address the fuel pump mounts on these before (!) a failure. Once the rubber debris is floating around in the cell and the foam gets ahold of it no amount of cleaning will take care of the issue. I suggest fuel filters every two years would be prudent on the F50.

There is ONE gasket in the whole engine, the rest is O-ringed and Cooper ringed... heat cycles on a regular basis is well advised.

    Uh ... not quite. :)

It's WAY more raw/harsh/hard/loud/obnoxious than any CS or Scuderia will ever be! ALL GOOD though since I love every one of those characteristics which gives the F50 the notoriety of being the closest street car to a F1 car Ferrari has ever made! :)

One of a short list of Ferrari models that totally captivate's everyone of the senses. Gear box sounds, valve train sounds...all amplified by a carbon tub. I have watched a great many get out of the passangers seat with only the ability to shake their heads and babble.

No one yet has come up with the proper adjective to define the experiance. Raw? Absolutely, yet incredibly forgiving!

+1, I have done a few charity rides and normally the passenger is just giddy and incoherient by the end of the ride.
