It is coming from Richard Freshman's shop and his supposed to have some good components. The numero interno just records where in the production the engine was built. It is commonly listed on the "Folio di Montaggio".

    Just to expand.

When a chassis was started, it was stamped with a chassis number. Similarly when an engine was built, it also was stamped with a number (numero interno or internal number). The two were not related. ONCE a specific engine was mated to a specific chassis, then the engine was stamped with the chassis number.

This practice ceased in the early 70s.

This is one of two currently advertised in the Ferrari Market Letter. The other is $135,000 but said to be rebuilt, complete and includes a gearbox. The128D has hairpin valve springs (not so bad) and 3 studs per cyl (not so good)

Nobody is bidding on it at $110K, is that too much for the people that actually want it and can afford it?

Why pay $110 for the engine when you can get a whole PF coupe for a little more?

You cannot buy a decent all restored PF coupe for less than 200k, and essentially with all the goochie billionaires running in the the shell historic with TDF's (2.5 -5 mill) wanting to build race motors and preserve there original engines so not to destroy the value when they blow them up, this rebuilt 508D engine which is mechanically the same components as a TDF engine it makes good value at the price listed, further the other engine advertised for 135K has had the serial numbers ground off, making it of lesser value to someone who may actually need this engine for the original car.
One other point Ferrari Classic program has quoted prices for similar engines or new engine @ over 175K without original numbers stamped on them.
