My Desmosedici awaiting pre delivery and I should have it next week. Who makes the carbon fibre wheels and did you stick with the standard sizes?

So I have ridden only one bike with CF wheels and it was not properly set up so I couldn't evaluate beyond the perception that is steered almost omnisciently. I was experiencing some head shake from the screwed up set up and I have not been on it since that ride.

What has been your pre and post impressions on the track with the BST's? I know that dia changes AND going to slicks AND CF wheels all contribute. I assume you made somewhat extensive set up changes in ride height with the 16.5's? What final tire OD change/ride height occurred in the rear going from the 16 to the 16.5'?

Well said! After the 916 and 996, Ducati became a lot less italian! MV is the historic italian racing brand, it also interesting that the person who made Ducati succesful in racing in the old days,is running MV.

Actually, if you are referring to the Castiglioni Brothers, they had a couple of engineers that made Ducati successful on the track. They also used a designer (Tamburini) that came up with the 916, who subsequently designed the MV's. The Castiglioni's had to sell off much of Ducati due to running the company deeply into the red, to Texas Pacific Group. They finally sold out and bought the MV marque and then brought in CRC (Tamburini) to design the MV. They have also managed to run MV deeply into the red and sold off much of the company to outside investors, who have taken a bath or two, along with their member investors, before Harley Davidson stepped up with cash recently.

I have a Tamburini and I agree that it is the Ferrari of motorcycles as to it's beauty, fit and finish, and it is high performance with a dollup of character (as in issues with overheating, electrical glitches, etc...sound familiar?). I also have a Desmosedici and a 1098R and I can tell you the the R will outperform the MV and the D16RR on the riding level of most mortals, street or track, and has none of the problems of the MV.

Not arguing about electrical or mechanichal.....but I have been dissapointed in Ducati lately, I feel they have started to become more and more japanese bike less italian. In some ways that is probably better for them....but I have ridden all the bikes from the 916 to date.....and its less raw more electrical. I probably am not expressing myself well...but put it this way....my 996.....i cna never part with for no amount of money....one of the best bikes I have ever used. I just bought an MV RR, it gave me the same rawness and the power was amazing in the way it was delivered.....very raw...like a ferrari not an supercharged lexus. Overall....both brands are amazing, the old bikes yet seem more satisfying.
