We had to perform a specific prescribed test to determine amount of oil burned over as I recall a 500 mile period. If it exceeded a specific amount they shipped us an engine. In contrast when there was a problem with 550 wheels breaking they denied, denied, denied. We would often have to get the client have his attorney make threats to Ferrari directly. Ferrari was blaming owners and dealers for breaking the wheels. I had a car we went through all that with to get approval to replace broken wheels. The very next day we received our notice that they were going to recall all the cars to replace all the wheels. They were still fighting replacement when the recall was in the mail. Same thing happened with all the fires from the 355 fuel lines. Was not until there was a law suit that it got fixed. They blamed all the independents for that one. Funny part was they were blaming them for installing a water hose clamp in a way that was cutting the fuel lines. They were blaming them for installing it exactly the same way the factory was installing them.
My 328 came in via "The Collection" in the Miami, FL area. First owner took delivery June 1987 - Not bad considering the car's build date of April 22nd, 1987.
I never saw any of the original paperwork for my 328; all I have is the owners manual which doesn't give any clues as to dealer of origin. Aside from that the oldest piece of paper I have is a service order for the 30,000 mile service from Tim Stanford Foreign Cars, which indicated that by that time the car was based in Sanford, FL. (Ironically, 18 months after I bought the car in California - it had about 49,000 miles when I did - I was driving to south Florida when one of the rear wheel bearings began to go bad. While I was vacationing down there I took the car to be repaired by...Tim Stanford! Unfortunately, neither of us could make out the old owner's name on the old service order, and he didn't recognize it.)
Hi Gordon, Sorry, I missed your reply to my post for some reason. Thank you for the info, you found more via the inter than I could! I did find that photo of the dealership when it was a new building, (spot the black cat photobombing the pic!) but not the one with the 365 in front of it, so many thanks for that. My slow burn search for a dealer sticker continues... will let you know! Cheers Alex Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Serial No.10906 1975 308gt4 delivered April 1977 Ramsey Motorcars S.F. According to research they painted the bottom of the car blue (instead of matte black/found the overspray) to generate some interest since the gt4s were so hard to sell.
From my '89 328GTS. Anyone knows of this dealer in San Diego back in late 80s? I used to visit San Diego yearly but never dropped by this location. Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mine also came from there originally. Here's a pic from my "Owner's Warranty and Service Book" is there a way how to track down this original owner? I'm the third owner now. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, I remember dealers carrying a variety of brands. Autohaus in Massachusetts was a BMW, Datsun, Alfa, and Ferrari Dealer. My nearest Ferrari Dealer when I was growing up in the 80s was Ferrari of Newport (actually in Middletown, RI). They started with a signle building and they were a dealer for BMW, Chrysler, Jeep, and Ferrari back in the 1980s. They expanded and built a second more modern building next door. Then they sold only Ferrari and BMW in the more modern building. They eventually got rid of Jeep and Chysler, and then lost their Ferrari franchise in the early 90's. The original building now sells beds and mattresses and the second building is just BMW of Middletown. Our 328 came from Ron Tonkin, in OR. Cool to see photos from Shelton. I never visited, but I purchased T shirts and other Fcar memorabilia from them. They had a great catalog with all sorts of cool things. Even Porsche's warranty was only 1 year/12,000 miles in 1985.
Augustine, do you know Ferrari US owners Club Membership Directory book ? S/N is not confirm but I'm pretty sure your car appears with the first owner.
I've never seen that book, but I've been in contact with the original owner. He hasn't posted in a few years but I chat with him on LinkedIn from time to time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am the second owner of my 79 308 GTB. It was delivered new 4/11/80 at one of the least known authorized Ferrari, Alfa Romeo dealers in the US, International Motorcars Corp in Jackson MS. The salesman listed in my warranty book is the owner of the dealership and rather famous racer Charlie Kemp. Some of the cars Kemp raced were Shelby GT 350, McLaren M8C, Corvette, Lola T222, Porsche 908, Porsche 917, Porsche RSR, and his IMSA Kemp Cobra Mustangs. And yes not a Ferrari in the lot. Some of the history of our cars can be a lot of fun to research. Pic is Charlie Kemp in Can-AM Porsche 917/10 Image Unavailable, Please Login
My #62285 was sold by the well know Ets Charles Pozzi in France. Arnaud Meunier recently wrote a nice book about them : AMBOOK / Arnaud Meunier books
Wide World are still there on rt 59 a few miles from my house. I think Mike Mastrangelo is still there too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you remember, I was the second owner of that car and I bought it from Wide World as well. Apparently the original owner traded it back on a 550 Maranello, if I recall correctly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For once, a nice dealership logo. I think this is the first one I've seen that I actually like. If I had it on my car, I'd keep it I've never seen any of Griswold's stickers (my 308 was from there). Anyone have one?
