We just came back from a vacation in the Bahamas (Atlantis) and I was pleasantly surprised by how many people I saw wearing Ferrari hats, shirts, jackets, backpacks, etc. around the pools, beach and harbors. When the opportunity would arise, I would ask if they had drove a Ferrari, followed/supported F1 or an enthusiast (just trying to meet fellow FChatters) but it was interesting the number that were none of the above. Many didn't know the difference between a 430, an F1 car or even knew what Maranello was. I could only conclude that the Ferrari name is becoming the new chic logo to have with their Chanel, Gucci, etc. Has anyone else experienced this recently or was this a fluke?

I have seen alot of this even in the states. Man Rule No. 396: Only those who do NOT own a Ferrari should wear Ferrari clothing and accessories...

I have never seen a person here who has Ferrari apparel. When I went to a Puma store though, there were like a couple of guys who are looking for Puma shirt with a Ferrari logo on it.

I only wear mine when I'm in the Ferrari. I don't want people to think I'm a poseur wearing Ferrari clothing coming out of a BMW.

I'll wear only one Ferrari item at a time...watch, cap, or t-shirt. Someone posted a pic of a "Ferrari Nerd" here on a similar thread...head-to-toe in prancing horse and other ferrari-logo attire.

I haven't seen it much here in California, the exception being a Grand Prix viewing event/FOC-FCA concours last summer, where the shirts and caps were out in force (and appropriately).

Ferrari is an incredibly evocative brand, so yes, I would say it sits in the same aspirational end of the brand spectrum as Gucci or Chanel. Probably anything that inspires cheap knockoffs - Rolex, Louis Vuittion, Panerai, Armani - sits there. It is chic. All most people know is that Ferrari makes insanely fast, staggeringly expensive two-seaters -- romantic, impractical, rare and exotic (things Italian are always in fashion.)

But wearing the logo on clothing in a normal setting just doesn't work at all. Either you don't have a Ferrari and you want everyone to know that you really really want one but maybe don't have the discretionary income; or, you have a Ferrari, and you're so insecure about it that every time you venture more than 100 feet from the car you need logo-wear so people really know it's your car.

(Those rule don't apply to women or kids. Women can wear Ferrari caps, and because we know they aren't generally obsessed with cars -- and usually couldn't care less -- it's easier to take it as a sporting touch and not some kind of need to meld their self-identity with the brand.)

I wear a Ferrari jacket (Michael Schumacher) and an F-hat. My wife gave these to me for my birthday. I wear them and find that it is a great conversation starter. When they ask if I own a Ferrari I say yes.
    They ALWAYS ask what model.

I have met many people that I never would have met had I not worn the clothing. Everybody has been great. Met some guys who have very impressive collections.

I have met lots of Schumi fans in Aspen, the vast majority of whom do not own a Ferrari but love Schumi and the mark. :)

It took me 40+ years to get a Ferrari. I am proud of it. Ferrais are pretty common where I live. It's not like I'm the only person in town that has one. Many have several...Enzos, F40s, F50s, and rare vintage models.

I have a Ferrari F1 Team Polo, and matching Puma shoes that I love to wear... but I wear them more as a fan of the F1 team rather than being a Ferrari driver.

A friend of mine brought me a cheaply embroidered shirt he bought from a street vendor in Italy for $3 US. I wear it because it has sentimental value, and don't own any other Ferrari clothes / merchandise. If I owned a Ferrari, that would be enough for me!

I have a bunch of Ferrari shirts, hat and a couple of Ferrari shoes. (one of which is only for driving though). I also have a cavallino tattooed on my chest and I have enough Ferrari stuff at my house to open a small store yet I do not own a Ferrari. I thing I got a bit above and beyond the normal fan. I usually don't wear more than one thing at a time unless going to a race or car show etc. At the end of the day I don't really car wether people think its cheesy or stupid to wear Ferrari clothes, I like to and I certianly don't do it to be a poseur but because I really like Ferrari and its my dream to own one.

Yes, I wear Ferrari, Nike, Golds Gym, Everlast, etc brands. I do not wear NASCAR or Ga Bulldogs stuff (eventhough I worked for UGA for 10yrs) but would never scorn those that do. Voodoo is good.
