Every other reviewer said otherwise, writing it's the best DCT there is. Don't trust CH too much, he is a Porsche fan boy.

For me Tim "Shmee150" is a great petrolhead and a real car guy. I respect his
insights and the time he takes to explain many details about the cars he drives or tests. Of course with 1m followers, many of them from the YT Generation, his Reviews are trying to reach out to that audience.

Back to Topic: Of course there is always lots of enthusiasm when Ferrari launches a new car. But it is such a remarkable Job from the Team in Maranello to push the Limits higher and higher. I mean the F12 was already so complete, so wonderful and nevertheless they are able to top that. So congratulations once again. Can't wait to get my Hands on the 812 and I'm very excited how it will look in grigio titanio in real.
There is a reason why I became such a Ferraristi and every new car seems to prove it again.

I look at these cars differently than many of you here because I cant justify buying a brand new one.
Is it a car to be bought 10 or 15 years down the road ? Of course in that time the 812 will be eclipsed.
What I see is layers of complexity trying to keep more-than-Enzo like power controllable in a rear wheel drive front engined car.
Complexity means more things to go wrong equals maintenance costs.
Right now I'm not loving the 812.

Those that are willing to step up for a new one under warranty; hats off to you.

I think it is pretty obvious that he really loves cars and is passionate, and i think he doesnt see himself as a serious Car-Journalist, most of these youtubers actually come across like kids in a candystore, BUT they get the kids interrested in cars, which is probably a good thing considering that so many kids nowadays are raised to a "cars are bad attitude" which might end with all of us driving electric bollox sooner or later, so the future petrolheads might be those who create future demand for fun to drive cars and probably convince the manufacturers to keep making at least a few of them. on the other Hand...they create thousands of little wannabe Shmees with the result that you cant go anywhere with a supercar in some areas without being filmed or photographed...but thats how it is nowadays i guess when everyone has a smartphone.....

and regarding the 812...i think we all need to drive it first to be able to judge....its the first car ever that i ordered "blind" without having driven it but i love the F12 still more and more everytime i drive it so i think the 812 wont be any different once you got used to it and have built confidence, and after all its still a personal thing for everyone, you either love it or you dont, no matter how brilliant it is...i love the 458....but i dont love the 488...yes its a awesome machine etc..but it just doesnt touch my heart and it it will be the same with the 812....you love it or you dont and i am pretty sure i will :)

Tim doesn't need anyone to speak for him, but as I have met him in the
past and had a very interesting conversation I wanted to put some things straight. I mean
he is so passionate about cars and has a lot of Detail knowledge about several specific models that I was impressed. I think to have 1m followers in a world where Kids are teached that cars have to drive autonomous and electric in the future is impressive and a huge achievement.
However regarding Your comment on the wannabee spotters and the link that You can't go anywhere without being photographed: If You go to Harrods or Knightsbridge with a Supercar (or to Name a more local example the Kö in Düsseldorf and Maximillianstrasse in Munich and of course Nürburgring) You are aware to be "spotted" and I'm sure it's in the interest of most owners. I know at least some local collectors here who inform spotters before they go to such exposed places to be phototgraphed and the cars being shown on the Internet, YT and Instagram.
If You take Your car on the favourite B-road on a beautiful Sunday morning I think no spotter will cross Your way and You can enjoy it by yourself it that's someones Preference.
At the end it's a individual decision what You like more. Your Point about the handyphones etc. is a good one, on the other side it allows a passionate person to see cars he otherwise would not have the Chance to see. For example I think I will never have the occassion to see a F60 America here, but thanks to car spotters I saw it on many photos and can admire it.

About the 812 You wrote some wise words. Of course at the end it depends on the individual Preference if someone likes the F12 or 812 more. By having bought both cars You have shown a great taste :D

So what? He's owned more Porsches and he used to be Porsche's semi-official driver at numerous races. He's always waxed lyricals about Porsche and even if he tested an F1 car he would compare it to a 911... He is rather funny, if not silly.

Well, I do trust him because whenever he's reviewed a car I'm familiar with, he's been spot on. And its not hard to believe because the GT3RS DCT is simply mind-blowing.

I've now seen his video review of the 812 and he does at the end come out and say its better than the F12. But for those who are familiar with his body language and the unspoken nuances of his reviews, the review is more similar in tone to his tdf review than his F12b review. That is, a respectful tone but not the outright giggle-inducing, lightheaded joy of the latter.

I think I know what he's trying to say.

He owns a 512 TR, has run in recent years a 599 and an FF and has just sold his F12. He has also ordered an 812. To my knowledge, he has only ever borrowed Porsches, though he does want to buy a 991.2 GT3 When he spends his own money he buys Ferrari .

Yes with credit which he has admitted 'stretches' his budget to the max. So what opinion can you really get out of that when we know he wont be putting on BIG mileage!

I noticed this myself with all these guys, everyone showing off their cars and this and that but when you look at their actual useage of them its almost nothing because everyone afraid of depreciation or something happening. Haha the passion!

Lets here from REAL owners, guys doing mileage in REAL world conditions(some races too) about what they think.

    LOL!

Who isn't on youtube or instagram? Why would a stranger give you an unbiased opinion for free?

The internet is one large SHILL fest including many of the so called 'forums'. People have bills to pay and nobody is willing to pay subscription services so they get their $ from the product manufacturers.

Look, money is always the most important elephant in the room and yet people want to pretend it isn't. HAHA GO puritan USA! let pretend we are all pious while being extremely greedy at the same time!

The only way to form an opinion about these cars is to own them or rent them yourself for some time frame if you can't make up your mind!

Look the 'press' goes to Maranello and everyone does the exact same route and program. Boot around the track and than only those hill roads on crappy potholed roads. Really is 1hr with the car ENOUGH? How do these clowns even remember what the previous model was like, when so many years passed? These guys are 'word' traders where they say clever things.

What we need is a guy who does real world use case. Meaning sitting in traffic for 80% and 20% in shopping mall parking lots to tell us if the 812 is a winner!

I on the other hand have disagreed with what he's said more than once; I find him very biased. Steve Sutcliff on the other hand is always spot on! By the way, Steve was gobsmacked by the 812.

Agreed. It's because he actually owns the cars as well for a period which gives him more depth.

    He also did a modified 911: https://youtu.be/YMHrYiNFIQM

Real wheel steer makes a car "better" yet less fun to drive in many respects. There is a security and joy to a fixes rear end that you can throw around.
