I am waiting for 1 more plastic vent part before tackling the removal and replacement of my dash because of the broken plastic vents and shrinking leather.

I have not been having much luck looking on the internet for any step by step efforts by other individuals so I am wondering if any one on the forum has any experience or suggestions on the process.

Also I am debating whether to use leather again or not since this shrinking leather seems to be a uniform problem of the brand. I have not had this problem with any of the other high end cars I have owned so I don't know why Ferrari is an exception. I know my 550 had the problem as did my Testarossa which actually totally distorted the fiberglass molding to which the leather was glued. Maybe some one has had better luck with some other material like alcantara or high end vinyl?

Good luck to getting removal information. Very difficult. You can look at Ricambi for schematics of the dash but no written instructions for removal. Removing the dash is a huge undertaking. be careful.

There is a youtube video on a 360 dash removal, I know it is not the same, but it is very probable that the assembly sequence is the same which is the most important to understand not to break anything

Thanks for the thoughts and the links. Pictures are always helpful. May be I will just post my experience on this thread along with pictures as I progress and others can pipe in with their suggestions. At least others could refer to the thread in the future should they decide to go it on their own.

It's going to take patience and time.

I've only removed the center part of the dash before, but here's a description I just put together from memory which will hopefully help:

In order to remove the center leather part of the dash, including the radio/climate controls, you must first unfasten the center console and push it to the side. You can't remove the whole center console without removing one of the seats, because the emergency brake handle keeps the console wedged in between the seats. Best advice is just to adjust the driver's seat (assuming left hand drive) way up and tilted forward so you can push the forward part of the center console to the right and rear part to the left. This way you will be able to access two very small hex screws that secure the lower carbon fiber trim piece below the climate controls to the center dash. These screws must be removed and the carbon piece taken out to access the three screws that secure the bottom of the center dash to the dash frame behind it.

Keep in mind you'll need power to move the seat up and back as you're doing this. You'll need it way up to get the center console unfastened and into the proper position to remove the center dash. But then you'll need to push the driver's seat back again to remove rest of dash.

The aluminum Ferrari trim piece above the radio is just clipped in. Simply pull it straight out away from dash. It should pop right out.

With a little force, the four air vents pop and pull out of the dash.

Here are some links to other threads which should help:

I just had the leather replaced on my 599 by Gary Bobileff here in San Diego, which required a complete dash removal. The labor was about 22 hours. Here's one of the pics Gary sent me of the work in progress. Not for the faint of heart.

Just removed mine with v limited online resources. Will make a pictorial file for benefit of those who wish to replace top vents in a few weeks. It took me around 6 hours to pull it out.. Did it without removal of the seats or handbrake. Only thing to take off is the steering which is quite easy.

The instructions are in the workshop manual under Bodywork parts (M2.19). They have very specific instructions for dash removal, for reference (14 pages of detailed instructions).
