I was at Ferrari of Ft Lauderdale racing shop yesterday. AF course had three cars over there. The 458,488 GT2 and a LMP2 car. Everything was in a million pieces but those cars are amazing. The GT2 cars don't share anything from the challenge cars. It is a completely different car.
Okay... did you want to supply a number (and maybe a source) or just be all vague about it? The chassis number I posted came from a reputable source, if you disagree with it or have contradictory information the right thing to do would have been to post the details surely?
#2874 competed in the USA as car #51 in the GTLM class The GTD car was F142 GT3 3272 Image Unavailable, Please Login
2874 competed in 2015 in Daytona, correct but not this year (2016) you ask about my source? I own 2874.... I should be a reliable source
The GT2 car you saw was the 488, and as the 488 Challenge has yet to be created it certainly can't share anything. In actual fact, if you take a close look at the 458 GT3 / GTD that was there (and which I will be racing next weekend) there is precious little in common with a 458 Challenge. The Challenge cars are an emanation of the road cars while the GT cars are real racing cars. The upcoming 488 GT3 is actually the same chassis as the 488 GTE and differs only slightly in aero and engine (more powerful in the GT3 than in the GTE)
In the overhead shot of the new car, you can see that the front splitter has an interesting cutout near the corner on each side. Anyone have any idea what airflow pattern they are trying to enhance or disrupt?
Is it my imagination or are the people in the grandstands photo-shopped for this picture? How can the seats be 100% full several days before the race?
those seats are all new...yep, every one of em.. The do look like they are full. That's why they look like that.
they are multicolored seats. like the new soccer stadium in Udine. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1163258607037669&set=pcb.10153576104719093&type=3&theater
I was naïve and gullible to think a famous venue such as Daytona needs visual gimmickry to fool the television audience, that a race is sold out. Thanks for the explanation ... BUMR.
yep hope they have some spares, damage not too serious unless RR suspension got messed up (pickup points, etc). can't believe they're qualifying in these conditions. Risi and one of the Fords spun too.
