The Huracan LP-580-2 (RWD) is less than the LP 610-4 (AWD), however, that is mainly because several features (i.e. Carbon ceramic brakes -15K) are standard on the 610-4 and an option on the 580-2. Similarly equipped, not a big differential.

Back to the original post, a new 488 gtb is not going to be an option unless the OP is willing to pay a premium. Given choice between a used 458 and new Huracan, I would definitely go with the Huracan.

to address your 'image' question.. and this is just my personal opinion.

i've owned an Aventador... i couldn't stand being a Lambo owner. there is just something a bit douchy about their community.

apart from that, the car was terrible.

i sold my aventador and replaced it with a GT3 RS... yes, it doesn't have the super cool image of the aventador, but its WAY more fun to drive!

You replaced a fast cruising car with a world class sports car. A completely different driving experience.

Sorry you did not like the car and you found the Lambo owners "douchy" whatever that means. I have owned many exotic and super cars an have found the owners to be delightful and interesting to be around and talk to.

My guess is your a kid maybe even with no license to drive. But no matter that is your viewpoint and you are a consumer or perhaps a future consumer, what ever the case.

I love Porsche and have owned many and they are great drivers car. You may try a BMW M3 or an Audi R8 V10 at some point. They are also world class sports cars

Enjoy your new car in good health.

    Best

Own neither but have driven both on a limited basis. Both are obviously an experience, but (for whatever it's worth) I thought the Huracan was (relatively!!!!!) boring to drive compared to either 488 or 458. The Huracan will get more attention I suppose...but if you need more attention than a 488 you may have a problem :) Good luck and let us know which you got.

I'm a 458 owner and I'm biased. But I will tell you that I have a friend in Miami that is just a CAR GUY.

He owns and gets to drive several exotics. We were just discussing the 488 vs Huracan.

If you're truly a car fanatic and your priorities are handling/steering feel and sound get the Ferrari. My buddy says the Huracan is a fantastic car HUGE improvement "over the Gallardo" but it falls short of the things you described vs the 488.

Your friends want you to get the Lambo for the looks. But after that wears off its about the feel and the drive.

My advice get the 488. Feel sound, comfort, INSANE torque and performance that rivals the F12 and Aventador.

I think it all depends from the car a person owns.

I own a 458 and had to decide between 488 and Huracan. I decided to buy the Huracan mainly because when I tested the 488 I felt like being on my 458 (because of the look of the interiors). Finally if you don't use these cars on the track you will not notice the difference in performance cause you cant use at the limit on regalur streets. So I did not care on my chouce on performance. It was only me wanting to change.

If a had a different car and never owned a 458 I would have probably bought the 488 ;)

However I consider them both 2 great cars ;)

I think by now we all understand these are two very different cars. They have some performance characteristics in common, they both aline in the exotic's category, and the price of admission for either is beyond normal reason (but we don't care). We all have our own reasons for driving what we drive, there is no "right" or "wrong" choice, there is only what works for you.

Buy what YOU like.....the experiences of others add little value to the ultimate decision IMO....unless you are looking for a psychological support group.

    Okay....stepping down now.......

As I have driven both, I faced the same dilemma as you did.
Eventually I placed an order for 488 spider. The thing about cars is that many aspects make us like them: looks, sounds, performance, technology, convenience, comfort, depreciation, and pure excitement. To sum it all, 488 takes the win. It only loses on sounds. For looks it depends on the judge's age.

So lambo is good, but only after you own a ferrari first!

Bottom line is the Huracan loses easily in the 1/4 mile and it only gets worse from there. The Ferrari is a much faster car. As for relevant proof there are plenty of videos on the net

I think raise is the true!

I bought Huracan cause 488 was too similar to my 458. So I chose to change. ;)

Yes, much like a female. At first it's all about the looks. But, when that wears off, it's about substance. Did i really just say that!? Oh no! I must be ageing.

Ill ad to this old post bc it is still useful.....
You have to also factor in your personality..... If you go with the Lambo, be prepared that every time you park it, you will return to a crowd of ppl. If you are not comfortable being the center of attention, and sometimes not always good attention, the Ferrari is a bit more subdued. It still gets attention but the Lambo will get more. I learned when i bought my first exotic car, that I didn't care for the attention. My personal nightmare would be a Red Lambo, roadster. Yikes.
I prefer a coupe, with dark tinted windows...... That's just me. I can always roll down my window if the blonde next to me seems to dig my ride.lol

I have owned a Huracan (liked it ), currently own a 488 and 458 and have a Performante on order. I hope the Performante is as exciting to drive as the 488. I too preferred the 488 to the Huracan for many reasons. Verdict still not in on Huracan Performante but her is a picture of my spec...

For those that have owned both:
Does the Huracan really draw significantly more attention/crowds than a 458/488?

I wouldn't say SIGNIFICANTLY MORE but a bit yes. If you don't want attention than don't buy a Lamborghini or ferrari as they both get attention imo...

Yes, my huracan definitely broke more necks than my 458 spider, 488 gtb, or 488 spider. The Huracan sounded really good too...
