Hi everybody, currently I drive a Porsche 991 Carrera S. I intend to purchase another new car for weekend play. I consider either the new 488GTB or Huracan... I prefer new design so rule out the Speciale .This will my first ferrari or lambo.... if the 488GTB is NA I can make up my mind now and it is the only choice.. for Turbo I am afraid the sound is not up to usual Ferrari standard (everyone know LOUD sound is ferrari signature).I am just curious why everybody in this forum never mention or have some intention on buying the Lambo. I live in Indonesia as I can know more people here and in Singapore prefer Lambo.. My friends and family members all suggested Lambo too..
I am a car fanatic I priorities image , handling/steering feel and sound foremost. Is the Ferrari really much superior than Lambo ?

    Thanks everybody for the advice

I think that the 488 GtB will be the better car in terms of handling, performance on the track, and driver interface: visibility and seating position.

The Hurican will be louder straight out of the box because it doesn't have any turbos.

But the Ferrari is the more sophisticated and evolved car.

    I do like the Hurican.

and this is coming from a lambo owner lol

sound is the only concern. just put an order in and you can always back out when you hear it. it will be a long while until you get one unless you pay a big markup (as a first time new f car owner).

I feel sterotyped in a lambo and ripped off cause of R8 V10. You ask, why not get a R8 V10? Looks and feels too german. I like german cars for daily driver....but on weekends....i sometimes like to have fun.

488 is a turbo. Read the 488 thread to find out more.

Having just picked up a 458 3 weeks ago, i test drove the huracan and was very close to buying one. I found the 458 much more exciting to drive. I personally prefer the look of the 458, sounds much better and the throttle response is phenomenal. I believe the huracan is just as fast if not faster, but I would swear that driving both the 458 felt significantly faster. Even though in Australia the huracan with similar options is over 100k cheaper I still went for the 458.

Hard to compare it to the 488 just yet, but I would say even if the only thing that's gone backwards In the 488 is the sound I would probably still go a Ferrari .

One thing to consider. How long do you plan to wait? Have you peen promised an allocation and a build slot yet? You can step into a Huracan fairly quickly, but depending on allocation etc, seeing that you're a first time buyer, you may look at mid 2017 before you have your 488. You can have a lot of good times with another car for two years. That being said, I'm not a Lambo guy, so I don't want to get into that one. In your case, I'd buy a 458, order the 488, sell the 458 when the 488 arrives. This you can of course also do with the Lambo.

I pondered both, to me the 458 was much more appealing in almost every way.

Go see both in the flesh and drive them if possible.

Where you live will really be what makes your choice. If you're in the US and have never owned a Ferrari before, you'll have to pay a massive premium or wait forever. You can have a used Huracan now under MSRP, or you can get a brand new one in a few months time directly from the factory.

Depends if you want the car in 2015 or 2017.

I like the Huracan after driving it a couple times. Much easier to drive than Gallardo. 488 will maintain it's value better I believe. My friend got a new Huracan below MSRP, pretty much straight up trade for a 2012 458 Spider. Which demonstrates how the Spider has maintained it's value over 3 years. MSRP was low 300s and he got $275K trade-in on Spider. That kind of depreciation is unheard of on 3 year-old car although mileage was only 4000.

I've driven the Huracan in Australia also and to me it's got too much of the Audi in it and the materials aren't great although the fit and finish is very good. I can see why they were able to drop the price A$100k here. I've recently come out of a 458 spider and have ordered the 458 Speciale Aperta for a build before June. Although well priced and with some excellent performance numbers I wouldn't go near the Huracan.

There was the comment that Singaporeans love Lambo's I think that's partly true - but I think it's more to the credit of the guy that took the initial risk on bringing them in. Don't remember his name but he did a fantastic job at selling them in that market.

1st of all, You mentioned "I am just curious why everybody in this forum never mention or have some intention on buying the Lambo?" because you are in Ferrari Chat Forum, many people in this forum is Ferrari enthusiasm.

Lambo and Ferrari are 2 different characteristic beast, really hard to give you an advice because you have to drive it in order to know that suited your style, every advice will vary and subjective to personal actually you can't go wrong with any of both car but you have to take the one that suited your style.

The society of car club in Singapore and Indonesia are really create a huge impact on your buying decision not because of the car that you like but rather the pier pressure who influence you to make the decision on the brand. They create the buzz in the club because they want to make their club larger and larger.

    Good lucks….

My wife just showed me the first Top Gear episode of this season this evening. I'm staggered. I know we must take those lap times with a grain of salt, but never the less. It was like 3.2 seconds faster than the Enzo, and 0.7 faster than the Aventador. Heck it's only surpassed by the Ariel Atom V8, the BAC Mono and the Huayra on Trofeo R tyres. 1:15.8. Blimey that's fast! For what it is worth, it sure looks to be a capable car. I for one cant' wait to see how the 488 stack up. No matter what, I'd still take the 488:D

Its so hard to rely on a thread to tell you what to do.

My take is this: no one builds cars that make you feel as much of a hero as Ferrari. I love that. I'm actually a proficient driver and have many hours of track time, but I'm not a true track rat and I'm not a pro and I'm happy to putt around on the back roads and once in a while really rock it and these cars never never fail to make me smile.

I have yet to find anything else that comes close.

I'm sure the other choices are all fine cars, but there is nothing like a Ferrari.

Honestly man let me tell you point blank. Not trying to flame you or insult you.

Why do you want your next car? If you want people to look at you and feel like you're chasing the joker on the weekends, get the Lambo.

If you love driving for the pure thrill of driving get the 488. I'm sorry but it has been YEARS and I mean YEARS since Lamborghini has made a better "driving" car than Ferrari. The 488 will do what the 458, 430, 360, F12, 599, the GTO and others have done. Simply overall better driving experience.

Styling is simply up to you but IMO nothing is more gorgeous than the 458 right now.

i own all of them, from CS, 16m,430 coupe, 458 spider, FF, huracan. gun to my head, id go with ferrari hands down. however, huracan is really fun to drive. its your choice really. i suggest test driving 458 and huracan, if you like 458 better, then wait for 488.

You can't just walk into a Ferrari dealer and "pick up" a new 488...especially if you're a first time buyer.

Short answer if you are a car fanatic and priories handing and steering feel then.... YES Ferrari is better.

I can only compare the Scuderia to the Superleggera as I have both of them. But I will assume the future counter parts are like their siblings. And maybe sound might be different in the 488, but till we actually hear one, no one really knows and I do bet Ferrari will make every effort to try and keep the sound as good as they can.

The Lambo gives you more confidence while driving, because of the AWD, so its fun. But its polluted the steering feel. With the Scuderia you feel everything and the feedback is great. My friends think the lamb is better, because its newer(I had the Scuderia 4 years before it) but the fact is the Scuderia so much more fun to drive and you feel like your in a race car. I traded my R8 for the superleggera and in my eyes.... its just a lightweight better version of the R8......... and more expensive....

Im the type of guy to get the thing that no one has, and if everyone over there has a Lambo and then break the bubble and be different.

Try and them both and in a month time you will be back here posting questions about your car.

He's back ..... man, that didn't take you long this time, but I have to say, I am a bit disappointed in your choice of screen name....did you run out of names that sound good ending in "-guy."?

Welcome back though, we need the comedy relief and the Cats....Oh yes, the cats.

Hi thanks everyone for the advice , in south east asian countries I think the allocation of the Ferrari is very different for US or Europe. I can read in most forum and news that there is a difficulty to obtain the Speciale in US or Europe but here the official agent here have three ready stock in their warehouse and have several allocations for indent. the price is quite the same as 458 italia. Here the price is same for every buyer ... indeed the first 488GTB will be delivered to first buyer ordered in fourth quarter this year..for ordering now it will be delivered on fourth quarter 2017. here we can order from UK too from parallel importers, the price is cheaper but come with no warranty.... in my small city (order from capital city, when in the car must stay in this city) when bought CS, ferrari or lambo I think we have to keep forever cause fewer than 20 people interested in buying these kind of cars... unless you sell at 40 percent of the original price after about two to three years.. So for me , no upgrade or trade up... if in US or Europe I will sell my CS now ..after driving for several months I find it boring (bought it cause in magazine every reviewer praise it and in porsche forums everybody say that it was fun and better in drive than Ferrari)

Actually my dream car will be the Aventador but the price is a quite a stretch for me (if same price range as 488/Huracan of course I will definitely choose it). anybody here interested in Aventador ? ever have a thinking buying it ?

I am new to the CS , Ferrari or Lambo... so don't mind my silly question. I honestly just want to make sure this time I really get it right (whether 488GTB, Huracan or Aventador ). Thanks

I've got both sitting in my primary garage 20 feet away from me right now and I expect delivery of my 488 early next year. Stock sound on the Huracan sucks. Gallardo and 458 are far superior with factory exhaust. To get you noticed, Huracan, no question. I had more people stop and take pictures and ask questions the first day I drove it than I've had in two years with the 458 and three years with the 430 before that. Hell, my wife's LP 560 Spyder gets more attention than my 458 or 430 ever got. To be faster around a racetrack or on a backroad, Huracan. To be more comfortable around town, Huracan. Storage space: 458. To give you that feeling where you perfectly hit an apex and come out of the corner on the gas and you just want to scream at the top of your lungs like a greek god because the car literally has a direct connection to the pleasure center of your brain, 458 all day. No idea on the 488.
