Not sure if this was posted before but this one is definitely giving me hope. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V0qMKb5Pquo
Sounds very good. Must be high flow cats in the config ? Still wish the car could do 9000 rpm though....kind of sounds like short shifting a 458.
Well, it was a minute before you that I posted the video ;-) As mentioned, this is our newest development for the F488GTB called twin flow. Has the features of a cat replacement pipe with a cat. Benefits full sound, no CEL, no necessity to use a dongle or whatever to avoid the CEL. Best Ignacio
It is like it is .. stay with a naturally aspirated or go turbo/supercharged .. But each one has it's characteristics with pros and cons. Yes the screaming of a 458 is beautiful but the power of the F488GTB and the potential to boldly go where no one has .. ;-) Love both. Best Ignacio
I have to say sounds better then any mclaren, but doesn't compare or even come close to the 458 Stock sound which is sad
Good and bad. 488 won't ever be in the same league as a 458 sound wise. We have to deal with it and done. You cant compare a purring house cat with a roaring lion. If I look at the turbo car and NOT NA engines, I have to say that Ferrari has done a fantastic job. I was expecting worse but they coped well with it. Comparing to Mclaren and the like I have to say that the 488 is just short of beating the Turbo s. Hate me if you want but to me the 911 turbo S sounds epic
458 won't ever be in the same league as a 488 performance wise. Just depends what you want out of your car.
is it me or do the drive-by portions of the vid sound extremely manipulated / amped up? or maybe the mic was attached separately to the car?
Absolutely! And I think we either will have to stick with a NA car in the garage while getting used to turbos in the future. Look, there has been a lot of FUD wrt valved exhaust systems that shall be prohibited. And what are we talking about? Legislation wants to change the metrics on how a car has to cope with the noise emissions .. the how and when. Best Ignacio
so its simple don't buy a 488 .. as otherwise you are probably and sadly much better with a McLaren 650S
Here is a small one I did with my iPhone 6s Plus while doing some development drives. http://www.capristo.de/FTP/Video/Ferrari-488GTB-ExhaustDevelopmentTestRides.mp4 Cheers Ignacio
No, not with the current configuration. With cat replacement (or test pipes even 200cpsi sports cats) impossible to get. There are at least 2 factors, noise emissions and pollution that would not meet the required parameters. Cheers Ignacio
